Joby Gorillapod: (fantastic versatile bendy tripod – this is the slightly smaller “action” version that’s easier to travel with and comes with a mount for a camera and a gopro)
Macbook Air: (we edit everything on Final Cut Pro on a Macbook Air, which is light and easy to travel with)
External Hard Drive: (the videos are a little too big for the macbook air to handle, so I edit everything off an external hard drive)

Petrified Forest Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about nature park Petrified Forest in The USA.
The Petrified Forest National Park is located in Arizona in the USA.Long ago the region was covered by a dense forest and mighty rivers cut across the terrain. Water caused by heavy flooding forced dead trees to float to a low lying swampland. In the deep quagmire of the swamp and having, in effect, been hermitically sealed, the trees were subsequently covered by layers of sediment. Thus their further decomposition was halted. As the trees piled deeper and deeper into the swamp the petrification process began. Mud, sand and volcanic ash settled above the trees that gradually absorbed minerals from the surrounding moisture. Thus, hundreds of fossilised trunks developed that today are scattered across the prairie. Today, the Petrified Forest’s formerly tall conifers are the most common examples of this stone world of plants that dates back to prehistory. The numerous colours of the pure quartz and various other varieties of the “stone trees” are quite remarkable and in stark contrast to the bright blue of the mostly cloudless sky. Most impressive is the millions of years old geologic phenomenon of the stone forest in the southern region that is situated only two kilometres from the entrance to the national park. In the Long Logs area that is located close to Giant Logs, there are hundreds of thousands of fossilised specimens. There are around three hundred archaeological sites in the park that range from small discoveries that have uncovered items of clay, to the incredible Pueblo dwellings of the Anasazi Indians. The Petrified Forest National Park combines the majestic brilliance of its petrifaction with the rugged beauty of a colourful desert. It is, without doubt, a unique masterpiece of Nature.

ROUTE 66 RV TRIP: Albuquerque to Flagstaff (TRIPPED RV S2 E6)
ROUTE 66: Albuquerque to Flagstaff
One of the best things about traveling by RV is that there is seldom a feeling to rush from one place to the next- which is good, because the top speed and maneuverability of a 30 ft winnebago make it hard to rush anywhere to begin with.
We did the best to make the drive West from Albequerue, New Mexico to Sedona, Arizona a leisurely one filled with stops. While this was one of the most beautiful drives we did the lack of places to stay along the way made camping a bit more stressful than normal.
We found our solution with Red Rock Park along Highway 40 in New Mexico. We stayed here for a few days to enjoy the nearby hiking to Church Rock. We were also able to schedule in stops at Petrified Forest National Park as well as Meteor Crater.

National Park Pass
This part of the road trip truly cemented in our minds just how wise of a decision it was to purchase the America the Beautiful Annual Park Pass. For $80, we wouldn’t have to concern ourselves with entrance fees to National Parks or over 2,000 Federal recreation sites.
One advantage with the pass is that you can save money if you’re planning on visiting many parks. That’s may be obvious as the first reason you’d spring for the purchase. The other factor that started playing a larger role in our trip is that we wouldn’t think twice about visiting a lesser known fee area for just a short time.
Skipping forward in our trip to right before entering Canada in July, we used the National Park Pass at:
Big Bend
Carlsbad
Petrified Forest
Glen Canyon/Lake Powell
White Sands
Grand Canyon
Glacier
Grand Tetons
Yellowstone

Petrified Forest Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Patrified Forest.
An extensive, scant desert landscape surrounds the Petrified Forest National Park east of Arizona. In the middle of the desert-like Badlands is one of the U.S.A.'s most remarkable geological treasures, the Petrified Forest. Two million years ago this region was a swampland inhabited by various species of dinosaur. The Forest covers an area of approximately three hundred and seventy-eight square kilometres and the outstanding petrifactions can be found throughout.Numerous fossilised sections of trees lie scattered across the desert and date back to prehistoric times when the surrounding highlands were covered with dense forest.Powerful torrential rivers carried the broken, dead tree trunks into a vast swampland where they sank deep into the morass and became hermetically sealed while additional layers of sediment built up on the trunks. Thus normal decomposition was halted and the wood retained various minerals. The largest fossilised tree sections that have been discovered in the Petrified Forest indicate that they date back to the time of the dinosaurs and stood up to sixty metres high. Like divine Indian arrows and the bones of a legendary giant the petrified wood is truly like something from another world.
