8 PLACES TO VISIT IN MALLORCA
Mallorca, also spelt Majorca is the largest island in the Balearic Islands, which are part of Spain and located in the Mediterranean Sea.
Places to visit in Mallorca:
1. Palma de Mallorca, is the capital and largest city of the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands in Spain.
Attractions: Palma Cathedral, Belliver Castle, The port and marina, Placa Major etc.
2. Port de Soller, Port of Soller is little town situated in one of Mallorca's most beautiful harbours on the west coast.A tramway connecting the town to Sóller, opened in 1913 and is about 5 km long.
3.Sa Calobra, It is one of the most famous spots on Majorca. There are two separate beaches in this cove. When you arrive (by car, coach or boat) in Sa Calobra you will see a small stony beach in front of a restaurant. If you follow the paved path to the right you will come to a short, narrow tunnel from which you will get on to the main Sa Calobra. GO IN THE MORNING OR LATE EVENING!!! It can be very busy.
4.Calo des Moro, is one of those picture perfect beaches. It is located in the south east of the island, six kilometres from Santanyí. It is on private land but it is open to the public, they even had a plan to build an hotel here but it was prevented. We park quite far from the beach, there is a sign that tells you that the road is private.
5. Cap de Formentor; GO IN THE MORNING OR LATE AFTERNNON, it was end of september and it was very busy.I t is an amazing experience to drive there, but be carreful there is a lot of trafic.
6. Alcudia, It is the main tourist centre in the North of Mallorca but the the hotels are mainly concentrated outside the town. Alcudia, the old town is well preserved with houses dating back to the 13th century and it is surrounded by a medieval wall.
7. Cala Figuera, the pictoresque village is part of district of Santaniy. The place has been spared of the mass commercialisation, so is not that is easy to get here by public transport.
8. Cala Mondrago, is one of Mallorca's best beaches, mainly becuase the area was declared a national park since 1992, protecting the area from building hotels or anything else. It can be a very busy place, so expect a lot of tourist. My favorite thing about this place is the national park ,you can do a lot of walks there.
Others places to visit: Deia, Valldemossa, Lluc, Port d'Andratx, Santanyi, Coves del Drac.
Beaches: Es Trenc, Cala Formentor, Playa de Muro, Cala Llombards, Cala Mesquida, Cala Gat.
Camera: Sony RX 10 2

Cala Figuera on the Cap Formentor road in North Mallorca is quite simply stunning to behold. We were out for a day visiting the cape and on our way back from the lighthouse, a friend of mine spotted a bay way down below the road with the bluest waters he’d ever seen.
We pulled over to take a good look. It was breathtakingly beautiful and dotted with private boats bobbing happily in the pretty secluded bay. We found a wooden sign pointing ‘Cala Figuera’ into the trees, and we followed a rough path leading down from further along the road.
We scrambled for twenty minutes down a path clearly hewn by rainwater more than people, until eventually we emerged on rocky sea level, eye to eye with sapphire blue sea.
To get back to the road, it was a short but steep climb which took about half an hour along very uneven and unmarked paths.
If you need easy access and family friendly head to nearby Playa Formentor but if you’re fit and able, willing to sunbathe on rock, want to escape the crowds of tourist land, and if you want to see somewhere truly beautiful, then pack a picnic (protect it from Garry), water and walking shoes, head to Cala Figuera and witness this spectacular bay for yourself.

Alcudia (Puerto Alcudia) is one the most popular resorts in Majorca located on the north east corner of Majorca in Spain. Alcudia is located about 59 km. from the capital city Palma de Mallorca.
Puerto Alcudia (Port d’Alcudia) is the port, beach, tourist and accommodation area of Alcudia town and it is located about 1,8 km. from the old town of Alcudia.
Alcudia, with its port area, has a population of ten thousand, which in summer swells to ten times that figure. A superb stretch of beach and good hotel facilities account for this growing summer influx.
Alcudia´s historic city centre
The centre of Alcudia still preserves the character of a historic town, having said that the name Alcudia derives from the former Muslim Al Kudi, and although the first settlements date back to the Pretalaiotic period (2.000 - 1200 BC) the city was founded in 1325 by King Jaume II on the site of the mentioned islamic farmstead. A highlight of its history was the prosperous ancient Roman city of Pol-lentia (123 BC), situated only a few metres from the old town, which is indeed worth a visit. Today´s city preserves the medieval street layout, define by its wll enclosure. The streets house numerous buildings of high architectual value are narrow ans irregular-a testimony of the city´s history.
The small alleys all over the old town is the best attraction of Alcudia. Most of them are peaceful and will give you great photo opportunities although some of them are very narrow and there will be always someone coming the other way :)
The most interesting among them was Carrer d’en Serra also part of the old Arab quarter
the gates
The old town of Alcudia used to have 3 different gates and hopefully you can still see 2 of them.
Coming from Palma we parked the car outside and walked inside the walled city through the main gate (puerta Principal). The massive towers gives you a picture of how this old town was anyway centuries before when during the 14th century when King Jaume II founded the new town of Alcucia.

Cala Mondrago Beach, South-East Mallorca
Pretty Unspoilt Beach in the South East of Majorca.
Cala Mondrago is a small Blue Flag beach situated within Mondrago National Park in the south east corner of Majorca.
It has been protected from development and is considered to be one of Mallorca's most beautiful areas, with it's sand dunes, pine forests, beautiful coastline and rocky coves. There are sun loungers and parasols to rent and a bar and restaurant for refreshments.
If you find that the beach is way too busy when you arrive, you can try S'Aramador beach to the east in the next door cove, and is much larger (although still very popular). To the west lies the pretty but smaller beach of Calo des Burgit.
The closest resort to Mondrago is Cala d'Or, or if you'd like to stay somewhere more traditionally Mallorca, try the inland village of Santanyi.
