8 PLACES TO VISIT IN MALLORCA
Mallorca, also spelt Majorca is the largest island in the Balearic Islands, which are part of Spain and located in the Mediterranean Sea.
Places to visit in Mallorca:
1. Palma de Mallorca, is the capital and largest city of the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands in Spain.
Attractions: Palma Cathedral, Belliver Castle, The port and marina, Placa Major etc.
2. Port de Soller, Port of Soller is little town situated in one of Mallorca's most beautiful harbours on the west coast.A tramway connecting the town to Sóller, opened in 1913 and is about 5 km long.
3.Sa Calobra, It is one of the most famous spots on Majorca. There are two separate beaches in this cove. When you arrive (by car, coach or boat) in Sa Calobra you will see a small stony beach in front of a restaurant. If you follow the paved path to the right you will come to a short, narrow tunnel from which you will get on to the main Sa Calobra. GO IN THE MORNING OR LATE EVENING!!! It can be very busy.
4.Calo des Moro, is one of those picture perfect beaches. It is located in the south east of the island, six kilometres from Santanyí. It is on private land but it is open to the public, they even had a plan to build an hotel here but it was prevented. We park quite far from the beach, there is a sign that tells you that the road is private.
5. Cap de Formentor; GO IN THE MORNING OR LATE AFTERNNON, it was end of september and it was very busy.I t is an amazing experience to drive there, but be carreful there is a lot of trafic.
6. Alcudia, It is the main tourist centre in the North of Mallorca but the the hotels are mainly concentrated outside the town. Alcudia, the old town is well preserved with houses dating back to the 13th century and it is surrounded by a medieval wall.
7. Cala Figuera, the pictoresque village is part of district of Santaniy. The place has been spared of the mass commercialisation, so is not that is easy to get here by public transport.
8. Cala Mondrago, is one of Mallorca's best beaches, mainly becuase the area was declared a national park since 1992, protecting the area from building hotels or anything else. It can be a very busy place, so expect a lot of tourist. My favorite thing about this place is the national park ,you can do a lot of walks there.
Others places to visit: Deia, Valldemossa, Lluc, Port d'Andratx, Santanyi, Coves del Drac.
Beaches: Es Trenc, Cala Formentor, Playa de Muro, Cala Llombards, Cala Mesquida, Cala Gat.
Camera: Sony RX 10 2
Mallorca Top 5 Attractions / Must Sees [4K]
Mallorca Top 5 Attractions:
1. The Caves of Drach
- The Caves of Drach (lit. Dragon caves) are four great caves that are located in the island of Majorca. The caves extend to a depth of 25 m and reach approximately 4 km in length. The caves have formed by water being forced through the entrance from the Mediterranean Sea, and some researchers think the formation may date back to the Miocene Epoch.
2. Cap de Formentor
- Cap de Formentor forms the eastern end of Majorca's Formentor peninsula. The Majorcans also call the cape the Meeting point of the winds. Cap de Formentor is a spectacular place, located on the northernmost point of the Balaeric Island Majorca in Spain. Its highest point, Fumart, is 384m above sea level. It has many associated bays, including Cala Fiquera, Cala Murta and Cala Pi de la Posada.
3. Sa Calobra
- Sa Calobra is a small village in the Escorca municipality on the northwest coast of Majorca. The port village is a popular destination for coach trips and road cyclists and is accessible by a single winding road, designed by Italian engineer Antonio Parietti, which features many hairpin bends and a spiral bridge.
4. Clear blue water and beaches (my favorite beach: Caló des Moro)
- Caló des Moro is a beautiful virgin beach with crystal clear water, 6 Km from Santanyí, in the Southeast of Mallorca. Only 30 m wide and flanked by rocky cliffs and pine trees, Caló des Moro is largely unknown, even to locals and excellent for diving and anchoring small boats.
5. Es Pontàs
- Es Pontàs (The big bridge in catalan language) is a natural arch in the southeastern part of the island of Mallorca.[1] The arch is located on the coastline between the Cala Santanyí and Cala Llombards in the municipality of Santanyí.

10. Caves of Drach
The Caves of Drach are four great caves that are located in the island of Majorca. They are in the municipality of Manacor, near the locality of Porto Cristo. They were first mentioned in a letter 1338. The caves extend to a depth of 25 m, reaching 2.4 km in length. The four caves, called Black Cave, White Cave, Cave of Luis Salvador, and Cave of the French, are connected to each other.
9. Alcúdia
Alcúdia is a municipality and township of the Spanish autonomous community of the Balearic Islands. It is the main tourist centre in the North of Majorca. It is a large resort popular with families. Most of the hotels are located in Port d'Alcúdia and Platja d'Alcúdia along the 14 km long beach that stretches all the way to Can Picafort. In Alcúdia the old town is well preserved with houses dating back to the 13th century. The old town is surrounded by a medieval wall.
8. Formentor Peninsula
Cap de Formentor forms the eastern end of Majorca's Formentor peninsula. The Majorcans also call the cape the Meeting point of the winds. The headland has quite a few lookout points with spectacular views. The most well-known is Mirador del Mal Pas, also named Mirador d'es Colomer after the small island Colomer, the view from which can be seen in the picture above.
7. Monestir de Nostra Senyora de Lluc
Mallorca's most ancient holy site is the spiritual epicentre of island life. The monastery houses a sacred statue of the Virgin and Child, and a small museum
6. Jardines d'Alfábia
Created by an Arab wali (viceroy) 1,000 years ago, these gardens include parterres, arbours and dells surround- ing an all but derelict house. A great place for exploring and relaxing
5. Valldemossa
Valldemossa is famous for one landmark: the Royal Charterhouse of Valldemossa, built at the beginning of the 14th century, when the mystic and philosopher Ramon Llull lived in this area of Majorca. Chopin and George Sand spent the winter of 1838-9 here in the old monastery. In spite of the beautiful view and general comfort of what is described as a cell, they were not happy and George Sand wrote a book which may well not have led the locals to want them back.
4. La Granja
A mountain estate of gracious architecture and bucolic surrounds. Yet this peaceful haven is also home to a horrific collection of torture devices used by the dreaded Inquisition
3. Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró
The genius and visionary power of the consummate Catalan artist are concentrated here. Not only can you experience the full range of Joan Miro's work, but you can also immerse yourself in the atmosphere of his studio
2. Bellver Castle
Bellver Castle is a Gothic style castle on a hill 3 km northwest of Palma on the Island of Majorca. It was built in the 14th century for King James II of Majorca, and is one of the few circular castles in Europe. Long used as a military prison throughout the 18th to mid-20th century, it is now under civilian control, being one of the main tourist attractions of the island, as well as the seat for the city's History Museum.
1. La Seu: Mallorca Cathedral
The Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma, more commonly referred to as La Seu is a Gothic Roman Catholic cathedral located in Palma, built on the site of a pre-existing Arab mosque. It is 121 metres long, 55 metres wide and its nave is 44 metres tall. Designed in the Catalan Gothic style but with Northern European influences, it was begun by King James I of Aragon in 1229 but finished only in 1601. It sits within the old city of Palma atop the former citadel of the Roman city, between the Royal Palace of La Almudaina and the episcopal palace. It also overlooks the Parc de la Mar and the Mediterranean Sea.

Mallorca/Spain - Winter escape in low season
How to travel Europe? Especially during winter. There are still some great and warm places in Europe you could visit. For example Mallorca / Spain. This was my first time on Mallorca. We visited Mallorca during low season in January 2017 for a quick winter escape and it was great. As I haven't been to Mallorca before I realzied it is great place to travel to! Spanish lifestlye (tapas, tinto de vereno and churros) and culture, sun, beaches and it is really cheap! The landscape is stunnig, especially the very east and the very north west!
During low season your holiday could be really cheap. We paid € 72 for ur flights (each) directly to the airport of Palma Mallorca (easyjet). We rented a car for €42/6 days, had a great airbnb apartment in the center of Palma de Mallorca (€65/night) and used Google offline maps to drive around the island.
We visited great places like El Molinar, Valldemossa, Portocolom, Cap Formentor or Port de Pollença.
