Gundal Dam at Kollegala Tourism , Chamrajnagar Tourism Karnataka tourism. Gundal Dam is built on River Gundal. Gundal Reservoir is located in Kollegal Taluk of , Chamrajnagar District. It is Sub-basin of river Cauvery. The Gundal Dam was Completed in the year 1980. Gundal Dam was built to help Irrigation of various villages around the area. The reservoir get filled from July To November . The drive along the roads to the dam is brilliant, except for the last 5kms to the dam entrance. This place is located in Western Ghats hill range starting from Kerala and ending in Tamilnadu. Gundal dam is constructed in between MM Hills and B.R.Hills .Few songs and scences from the Kannada movie Veera Parampare was shot here.
Gundal Dam is 158 kms from Bengaluru, 250 kms from TamilNadu, 275 kms from Kerala, 80kms from Mysore and 17kms from Kollegal town. Kollegala is one of the major taluks in the Chamrajnagar District of Karnataka State in the south of India ,at the foothills of the Western Ghats. It is also the largest taluk in Karnataka. Kollegala is well known for its silk industry which attracts traders from all over the state.
Kollegala tourism offers various places around Such as The Hoogyam Dam, The Malai Mahadeshwara Hills, and the waterfalls at Hogenakal near Male Mahadeshwara hills and the waterfalls of Gagana Chukki and Bhara Chukki at Shivana Samudra (also known as Bluff) are popular destinations. In Kollegala there is a small hill called Maradi Gudda which is located in the heart of the city. Gundal dam is just 15 km (9.3 mi) away from Kollegala. It also Includes BRT Tiger Reserve and K.Gudi (Kyathadevara Gudi) Wilderness camp.
Chamarajanagar was earlier known as Sri Arikottara. Chamaraja Wodeyar, the Wodeyar king of Mysuru was born here and hence this place was renamed after him. Chamarajanagar district borders the state of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Kolli Hills or Kolli Malai is a small mountain range located in central Tamil Nadu in Namakkal district of India. Bangalore to Kolli Hills distance is about 260 kms. The Mountain is named Kolli Malai after the name of Goddess Ettukkai Amman temple. (KolliPaavai).
Kolli Hills is visited by nature lovers, hikers, trekking clubs, tourists and meditation practitioners among hill stations in Tamil Nadu. Agaya Gangai is the waterfall situated near the Arappaleeswarar temple and it is a must visit place if you go to Kolli Hills.

Chikkahole reservoir is a dam built over the river called “Chikkahole (Small River) in the small Village named ‘Chikkahole’ near Gundlupet town, in Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka State in India. the Dam is part of Chamarajanagar tourism Karnataka tourism and Karnataka Dam. This Place is in the border of Erode District of Tamil Nadu. Suvarnavathi Dam is at 3km from Chikkahole Dam. River: Chikkahole; Purpose: Irrigation,Activity since: 1958. Chikkahole Dam is about 73km from Mysuru, 197km from Bengaluru, 14km from Chamarajanagar District. Chikkahole reservoir is a dam built over the river called Chikkahole (Small River). . Chikkahole is the tributary of Suvarnavathy, originates at Hasanur ghat range to the south of C.R.Nagar flows in northerly direction. A dam is constructed across this tributary about 12kms. away from C.R.Nagar.
Chikkahole river originates at Hasanur ghat near Tamilnadu border, a dam is constructed across the tributary region at Attigulipura, Chamarajanagar taluk which provided irrigation to this area.

Ganalu Falls near Bangalore at Ganalu, Malvalli tourism Mandya tourism Karnataka tourism,Ganalu waterfalls located at Ganalu, Malavalli Taluk, Mandya District, Karnataka .The Shimsha river flows down to form the Ganalu Waterfalls. It is surrounded by rocky terrain, and requires little bit of trek to reach the final place. The Shimsha river further flows down towards Shimshapura Hydro Electric Plant . This place is accessible to an extent by two wheelers and and not much by four wheeler. The path to the waterfall is a narrow mud road. It is a lesser known waterfall. Not many people are around this waterfall other than locals and bikers. The waterfalls comes to life by the month of October. The view of the rocky surface of the waterfall area is equally interesting to visit, to see the kind of rough surface. One needs to be cautious while ascending and descending towards the water fall. As the rocky surface can be dangerous in case of even minor mishaps.
Distance between Bangalore and Ganalu Falls is 99 kms. It is located 45 KM from Mandya , 15 KM from Malvalli and 69 Kms from Mysore.

Someshwara Temple:
Built in 14th Century and is a fine example of Vijayanagara style (Dravidian Style) of architecture.
The temple is well maintained by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
Lord Shiva is worshiped in the form of Someshwara in this temple.
One of the main attractions of this temple is the Kalyana Mantapa (wedding stage). The art on the four pillars of the main stage is extremely beautiful. It is influenced by Chinese, Thai and Europian architecture.
Kolaramma Temple:
Kolaramma temple which is only 5 mins walk from Someshwara temple.
Goddess Parvathi worshipped in the form of Kolaramma.
The temple built by Cholas during 11th century.
Another important deity here is Chelamma (Scorpion Goddess). It is a belief that Chelamma protects a person from scorpion bites. In the room next to main shrine, images of Sapthamatrikas are kept.
