Road Trip #163 - US-80 W - Gibsland to Minden, Louisiana
We continue on the next segment of US Highway 80 westbound, beginning at the eastern city limits of the small town of Gibsland, Louisiana in Bienville Parish. Gangsters Bonnie and Clyde were killed just 8 miles south of Gibsland in 1934, by Texas and Louisiana state troopers. On Main Street is the Bonnie and Clyde Ambush Museum, in what was once the cafe where they had their last meal.
After leaving Gibsland, we pass through the small unincoporated communities of Taylor and Ada, and then cross to the north side of I-20. We enter Webster Parish, and then US-79 Truck route joins us as we approach Minden. We end the drive at the eastern city limits of MInden, Louisiana.

Highpointing: Driskill Mountain, the highest point in Louisiana - Rooftops of America
We visit Driskill Mountain, the rooftop of Louisiana. Located in Bienville Parish near the town of Arcadia, the highest point in the state of Louisiana has an elevation of 535 feet. It is in the North Central Uplands of the state. It is in a rural, quiet part of the state, but that hasn’t always been the case. One morning in May 1934 gunfire shattered the calm as outlaws Bonnie and Clyde met their end in an ambush by law enforcement. Join us as we explore America and go highpointing!
