Gżira is a town in the Central Region of Malta. It is located between Msida and Sliema, also bordering on Ta' Xbiex. It has a population of 8,029 as of March 2014. The word Gżira means island in Maltese, and the town is named after Manoel Island which lies just adjacent to the town. The seafront of Gżira is famed for its views of the walled city of Valletta, which are illuminated at night, forming a picturesque backdrop to Manoel Island, the yacht marina and a seafront public garden. Kappara is located close to Gżira. Orpheum Theatre (Malta) is located in Gżira.
Gżira in Marsamxett Harbour, MALTA
Gzira means,“island” in Maltese and the town derives its name from the Manoel Island situated in the middle of the harbour. Manoel Island was named after the Grandmaster Manuel De Vilhena who built Fort Manoel in 1726. Gzira is popular for its beautiful views of Valletta and Marsamxett Harbour, its yacht marina, seafront and public garden as well as being close to the University of Malta, Sliema and Valletta.

The city of Valletta is a blend of buildings made of stately lime stone on a dark blue sea. It is full of exotic beauty and the entire city is listed as a World Heritage Site. Due to its nature and antique atmosphere, every year Europeans are looking for a small European Maltese in Europe to enjoy their honeymoon and vacation. Malta is largely divided into three islands, one sixth of Jeju Island. So how do you get around Malta? Here you can find the Valletta Bus Terminal. The bus is an inexpensive means of transport to and from Malta. Of course, there are also wagons for tourists. The explanation of a good wagon is a bonus. There are also some city tour buses that make it easier for you to see various areas. But more people travel the city in different ways. It is just walking. I walk and take pictures of scenery and memories. We just got off the bus. It was great when I visited last time. It's a very interesting and historic place. It was eight years ago. So I'm looking forward to seeing you again today. I like it. First, it's very hot, second is beautiful, and third is just nice. Malta is a great place. There are lots of nice buildings and nice houses.

Il-belt ta 'Valletta hija taħlita ta' bini magħmul minn ġebla tal-ġir stately fuq baħar blu skur. Hija sħiħa ta 'sbuħija eżotika u l-belt kollha hija elenkata bħala Sit ta' Wirt Dinji. Minħabba n-natura tiegħu u l-atmosfera antika, kull sena l-Ewropej qed ifittxu Maltin Ewropej żgħar fl-Ewropa biex igawdu l-honeymoon u l-vaganzi tagħhom. Malta hija maqsuma fi tliet gżejjer, waħda minn sitta tal-Gżira ta 'Jeju. Allura kif taqla 'madwar Malta? Hawn tista 'ssib id-Terminal tal-Bus tal-Belt Valletta. Ix-xarabank huwa mezz ta 'trasport rħas lejn u minn Malta. Naturalment, hemm ukoll vaguni għat-turisti. L-ispjegazzjoni ta 'vagun tajjeb hija bonus. Hemm ukoll xi xarabanks tal-vjaġġi tal-belt li jagħmluha eħfef għalik biex tara oqsma varji. Imma aktar nies jivvjaġġaw il-belt b'modi differenti. Huwa biss mixi. Travel Vlog ✈ Malta
FEB 9 – FEB 16 2018 |
A week in the wonderful destination of Malta :)
1. Where to stay
It depends on what you are looking for, but many internet sites suggest to stay in St. Julian’s or Sliema, because both locations have convenient shops, restaurants, bars, clubs and nightlife. We chose Sliema and did not regret it. You can find good bus and ferry services that can take you to anywhere!
2. Marsaxlokk
Marsaxlokk is a southern fishing village, where many tourists gather to take great pictures in one of the oldest ports in Malta.
Try to target a Sunday so that you can see the famous market. There are mixed reviews on the internet about it but personally, although we didn’t buy anything except from some sweets and cakes for breakfast, we enjoyed its atmosphere.
3. Valletta
Valletta is the capital of Malta inscribed on UNESCO’s world heritage list. It is very historic fortress city full of charm. You must absolutely not miss St. John’s Co Cathedral
4. Mdina
Also known as ‘the silent city’, Mdina is the old capital of Malta. Ruled by different civilizations in ancient times, this small fortified town is a gem for history lovers !
5. Popeye Village
This was certainly one of my fave places during this trip ! Plunging into the world of E.C Segar’s comics strips felt like a childhood dream come true. The place was actually the filming location of the movie ‘Popeye’ (1980) starring a young Robin Williams !
6. Prehistoric sites
Malta is home to several impressive prehistoric sites such as the Tarxien temples and the Hal Saflieni Hypogeum which are worth visiting. Note that you have to book your tickets weeks or months in advance for the Hypogeum since there is a limited number of visitors who can access per day due to preservation efforts.
7. Carnival
Carnival is one of the main festivities not to miss ! Different parades and activities are held in different areas of the island. We went to Valletta where the streets were brightened by handmade floats, wild costumes and loud music.
8. Fooood !
Restaurants (and dishes) included in this video :
In Sliema :
- Tex Mex (Kentucky glazed ribs)
- Il Malti (Maltese sausage, Maltese fried cheese, Cooked Rabbit, Raviolis filled with maltese cheese, Octopus spaghetti, Lamb)

- Castelleti Bistro (Tuna salad, Pappardelle vongole, Salmon farfalle)
In Il Gzira
- Anciova (Mixed raw fish, Fish thinly sliced with pistachio, Salmon tartare, Spaghetti al nero, Spaghetti with sea urchins, Tiramisu, Millefoglie)
In Marsaxlokk
- Roots (Local fish in black squid ink tempura, Octopus carpaccio, Spaghetti with squid, Seafood linguine)

Sights of Malta
Malta is an archipelago in the central Mediterranean (in its eastern basin), some 80 km (50 mi) south of the Italian island of Sicily across the Malta Channel. Only the three largest islands – Malta (Malta), Gozo (Għawdex) and Comino (Kemmuna) – are inhabited. The smaller islands (see below) are uninhabited. The islands of the archipelago lie on the Malta plateau, a shallow shelf formed from the high points of a land bridge between Sicily and North Africa that became isolated as sea levels rose after the last Ice Age.[141] The archipelago is therefore situated in the zone between the Eurasian and African tectonic plates.[142][143] Malta was considered an island of North Africa for centuries.[144]
Numerous bays along the indented coastline of the islands provide good harbours. The landscape consists of low hills with terraced fields. The highest point in Malta is Ta' Dmejrek, at 253 m (830 ft), near Dingli. Although there are some small rivers at times of high rainfall, there are no permanent rivers or lakes on Malta. However, some watercourses have fresh water running all year round at Baħrija near Ras ir-Raħeb, at l-Imtaħleb and San Martin, and at Lunzjata Valley in Gozo.
Phytogeographically, Malta belongs to the Liguro-Tyrrhenian province of the Mediterranean Region within the Boreal Kingdom. According to the WWF, the territory of Malta belongs to the ecoregion of Mediterranean Forests, Woodlands and Scrub.[145]

Malta has a long and rich history, and this is reflected in the island's cultural attractions. The Phoenicians, the Carthaginians, the Romans and the Byzantines have all occupied Malta at some point in history, leaving a mix of many different architectural styles and artifacts to explore. The sovereignty of the Knights Hospitaller over Malta from 1530 to 1798 resulted in a legacy of elaborate artistry and architecture throughout Malta. The country's modern museums and art galleries feature relics from Malta's history for tourists and Maltese residents alike to enjoy.[1]
There are also a number of aquatic activities to enjoy on Malta as well as Gozo and Comino. Northern Malta is home to the country's beach resorts and holiday areas, with the beaches most popular with holiday-makers being Mellieha Bay, Ghajn Tuffieha and Golden Bay. These beaches are large enough to be able to house cafes, restaurants and kiosks, but small enough to rarely be crowded. Malta's northwest is home to the island's quietest beaches, and it is on these that the main island's neighbouring two are nearest. Gozo and Comino are also popular beach spots for holiday-makers, although these are much more likely to be quieter, rockier and more suitable for snorkelling.[2] The Mediterranean Sea surrounding Malta is popular for diving - while shallow dips may be attractive to beginning divers, more experienced divers may be able to dive deeper to find historical artifacts from World War II or ea
