Ancient City of Pingyao, Shanxi, China in 4K (Ultra HD)
The Ancient City of Pingyao is UNESCO World Heritage site for being an exceptionally well-preserved example of a traditional Han Chinese city, founded in the 14th century. Its urban fabric shows the evolution of architectural styles and town planning in Imperial China over five centuries.
The impressive city walls (total length 6 km/3.7 mi) were constructed in 14th century. Most buildings in the Old city are from the Ming and Qing dynasties. During the late Qing Dynasty, Pingyao was the financial center of China.

Shanxi Province China (part 2) - Backpacking China - Episode 11
Jeff and I are back traveling through Shanxi, Province, China.
This time we visit Mount Wutai, also known as Wutai Mountain in the Chinese northeastern province of Shanxi. The North peak, called Beitai Ding or Yedou Feng, is (3,061 m), and is also the highest point in northern China.
Mount Wutai is home to many of China's most important monasteries and temples.

Some of the most important architectures of private residences and mansions in China known to date can be found in the town of PingYao of Shanxi Province. Six hundred years ago, a group of adventurous merchants started their humble business here. Their trades and services thrived for centuries to greatest prominence, driven by their innovations and courage, as well as business and life principles. History remembered them as ‘Merchants of Shanxi’.
