Oeschinensee & Mountain Coaster | Best Mountain Lake | Top places to see in Switzerland
Oeschinensee is one of the most beautiful lake in Switzerland's Bernese Oberland region. It is located 4 km east of Kandersteg in the Oeschinen valley.
The visit can be a full fun filled day. From Kandersteg it takes around 1 hour to reach the lake but the option of Cable car is also there which runs between Gondelbahn Kandersteg and Rodelbahn.
And it takes 20 mins walk from Rodelbahn to reach the lake.
Also enjoy the Mountain Coaster just beside the Rodelbahn.

Last Saturday the 14th of November my girlfriend and I went on a trip to explore the nature of Bern. Arrived in Bern, the capital city of Switzerland, we decided to take the train to Kandersteg. When you get off the train a big mountain chain appears in front of you. It’s allready a mind blowing view but that was not all.
We took the bus to the Blausee station. The Blausee (German for Blue Lake) is an adventure for all senses. Here you will enjoy the interaction of silence and relaxation in a mystical landscape together.
Despite it’s small size of 6’400 m² it’s one of the best-known mountain lakes in Switzerland. It’s a popular excursion destination in the “Berner Oberland”. The lake is located in the small village called Kandergrund. Elevation above sea level is 887 m.

Kandersteg Alpine Slide, Switzerland
Thankful for the opportunity to ride the Alpine Slide in Kandersteg. Located at the top of the Oeschinensee Gondala Lift, this amazing 4 min ride is a must do while in Switzerland. Costing only 5 franc per ride, this tiny coaster has all the thrills and views.

Giessbach: This grand hotel was finished in 1874. Look at the elegance of the building, combined with the beautiful serene surroundings. You can imagine how the high society back in the days just loved to spend their precious time here.
Diplomats, artists, statesmen and even kings were regular visitors.
After 2 wars with disasterous consequences for the Swiss hotels, the fame and glory of Giessbach faded. It even closed it’s doors in 1979, and plans were made to demolish it. There should be something new, something modern.
Fortunately some people didn’t lose their mind, and a Swiss ecologist managed to buy the property and made Giessbach a gift to the people of Switzerland. There is a restaurant now, and a small number of renovated rooms. All to ensure this place is used as it was meant to be: a little escape from reality.
The Brienz Rothorn Bahn is far from an ordinary train. The locomotive strategically placed at the back, you slowly climb the mountain to over 2000 meter. This steam driven ride celebrates it’s 125th birthday this year. It truly really feels like a ride through history.
Well we’re only in for just a few minutes, when they call us to get outside. Come.
Leaving Giessbach it’s definitely worth it to take a stroll through the beautiful city of Brienz. We haven’t got much time though. They’re waiting for us..
