Our holiday in Kea, Greece
Kea, or Tzia, is a Greek island in the Aegean Sea’s Cyclades archipelago, characterized by hilly countryside and quiet beaches.
We visited in September 2017, and visited much of the island and it's many beaches including also the ruins of Ancient Karthea.
In the island’s capital, Ioulida or Ioulis, the Archaeological Museum of Kea houses locally excavated artefacts. The waters around Kea are home to several shipwrecks, including the Titanic’s sister ship, the Britannic in 1916.

Kea is a popular weekend destination for the Athenians and in fact, many Athenians have summer houses there. Holidays in Kea Greece offer a truly relaxing experience. With lovely seaside villages, crystal beaches and traditional houses, the architecture of Kea does not remind much of the Cyclades due to the earthy colours. The island also offers a wide variety of beaches and things to do. Koundouros, Gialiskari, and Otzias are the best-organized beaches, where many tourist facilities and accommodation can also be found. Apart from these, it is a nice place for trekking. WORK A LITTLE HARDER FOR YOUR PLEASURE
Although KEA could be one of the most fancy and popular islands of the Cyclades, she has quietly decided to remain silent and mysteriously out of the competition of beach bars and touristic setup. Although she is the closest island near Athens, where someone would expect that the island would live out of the tourists, this seems not to be the case.
