FREE Things To Do In Healesville + Permaculture Yarra Valley Melbourne

Located in the northeastern Yarra Valley (an hour’s drive from the Melbourne CBD, or 3 hours by tram), Healesville is a beautiful town surrounded by mountains, forests, wineries and farms.

For backpackers it’s also a great place to meet your favourite Australian animals: platypus, koala, kangaroo, Tasmanian Devil and wombat.

If you’re lucky you can also visit the Mora Mora cooperative residential community. About 50 adults and 20 children deliberately decide to live together on about 600 acres.

And lastly we learned heaps about permaculture with Graham George.

Driving to Pykes Creek Reservoir - Melbourne Victoria on 21.5.2018
It was a very windy ,cold and rainy Day but I decided to go for a drive after work. It was quiet a challenge to get to this place driving from Bacchus Marsh because the weather was bad and i didnt even follow any navigation or maps .
I kind of knew its somewhere there. Finally arrived and I was impressed with its size but believe its little short of water being depleted by recent droghts in Victoria.

Pykes Creek Reservoir is also a great place for boating,fishing & kayaking and next time i will film more in better weather.

Pykes Creek Reservoir ( Pykes Creek Dam )- Melbourne Victoria is situated about 70 km from Melbourne city center and Ballan is not far from there. Little town of Myrniong also is very nice and I hope to drop in the Plough Restaurant.

The lake often turns a red pigment in the warmer months before turning to its usual blue in autumn.
Algae growing in the salt crust at the bottom of the lake produces the red pigment (beta carotene) as part of its photosynthesis process and in response to the extremely high salt levels, Parks Victoria said on Facebook.
(Westgate Park) is a nature sanctuary located in the heart of industrial Melbourne. Having undergone many transformations before emerging as one of Melbourne’s most visible parks, Westgate Park is a vibrant example of how a wasteland can become a flourishing ecological and recreational wetland environment. (Westgate Melbourne) Park offers a range of attractions and activities, located along the eastern banks of the Yarra River under the Westgate Bridge; the park offers spectacular views to the mouth of the Yarra and the city skyline. Enjoy a picnic lunch with friends or family or cycle along the Yarra River or the Port Melbourne foreshore. The healthy bird population also attracts bird watching enthusiasts. Barbecues and picnic areas are free and available for shared use. (Westgate Park) is located along the eastern banks of the Yarra River, under the (Westgate Bridge). Access is via Todd Rd or near the end of Lorimer Street, Port Melbourne.

The Dandenong Ranges.

The Dandenong Ranges, originally known as Corhanwarrabul,
(commonly just the Dandenongs) are a set of low mountain ranges, rising to 633 metres at Mount Dandenong, approximately 35 km east of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The ranges consists mostly of rolling hills, steeply weathered valleys and gullies covered in thick temperate rainforest, predominantly consisting of tall Mountain Ash trees and dense ferny undergrowth.
