Illinois is as diverse a state as its cities and people. Located in the heartland of America, the Land of Lincoln may have cultivated a reputation as one of the worst run states, but it still remains a great choice for anyone looking to put down roots.
Unemployment rate is one of the major causes of the high migration rates out of the state in recent years, but Illinois continues to prove its economic resilience. Illinois is also home to dozens of cities with revitalized downtowns, excellent entertainment venues and endless outdoor recreation opportunities.
Universities in the state are on the leading edge of research and several of them, including the University of Illinois (Champaign Urbana) and Northwestern University,
are among the only 108 institutions nationally classified as “Very High Research Activity” on the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.
In the heart of the Midwest, Illinois has some crazy weather. The winters are harsh, the summers are hot, and several different seasons can show their face in a single day.
Every Illinoisan knows the importance of learning how to drive in snow and knows how to survive if their city gets shut down for a couple days.
Here are the 10 best places (cities and towns) to live in Illinois for 2018:
1. Northbrook.

Travel Paris in a Minute - Aerial Drone Video | Expedia
Gracing the banks of the Seine River, Paris has a way of romancing visitors with its elegant beauty and magical ambience. This incomparable city is filled with grandiose monuments like the Eiffel Tower, Notre- Dame, and the Champs-Elysées Boulevard. Yet the charm of Paris lies in the small details: the quaint cobblestone streets, prettily trimmed trees, perfectly puffed pastries, dainty tea salons, Belle Epoque brasseries, and avant-garde art galleries. Like a veritable open-air museum, the city's buildings are works of art, and the Parisians' everyday fashion is worthy of a magazine spread.
From stylish boutiques to exquisite cuisine, Paris is synonymous with the finer things in life. The city celebrates its cultural heritage by assiduously maintaining its historic landmarks, formal French gardens, and world-class art collections.

World's Most Stunning Skyscrapers
Take a tour of World's Greatest Skyscrapers (Skyscraper Day) -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
I'd like to show you the World's Greatest Skyscrapers.
In stunning Dubai, the world's tallest building rises from the cityscape. Towering over the city, Burj Khalifa holds many records for height and occupancy. This impressive, 160-story waterfront building serves several purposes. Hotel, retail, office, and residential space are complemented by a park and a fitness center.
The Petronas Towers are a symbol of Kuala Lumpur's economic and cultural prowess. Each tower is designed in the shape of an eight-pointed star, a prominent Muslim symbol. The towers are constructed using an innovative design of high-strength concrete, steel and glass.
Stationed on the bank of the Huangpu river in Shanghai is the illustrious Oriental Pearl Tower. The tower is accentuated by 11 spheres of various sizes which are fully supported by 3 columns. The design of this communications tower is said to have been inspired by a Chinese verse from 'Pipa Song', a Tang Dynasty poem.
The Empire State Building was the tallest building in the world for forty years. Since its construction in 1931, it has been an important part of the city's skyline. This 102-story, 1,050-foot tower has observation decks on the 86th and 102nd floors, which offer some of the best views of New York.
This tower broke the record of ''world's tallest building'' and held the title for six years. It's called Taipei 101 because it has 101 floors. The skyscraper's shape resembles a branching plant and was partially inspired by bamboo. Taipei 101 was completed in 2004 and reaches a maximum height of 1,671 feet.

Chicago 7, Illinois, USA, Collage Video - youtube.com/tanvideo11
Powered by - Chicago's streets were laid out in a street grid that grew from the city's original townsite plat. Streets following the Public Land Survey System section lines later became arterial streets in outlying sections. As new additions to the city were platted, city ordinance required them to be laid out with eight streets to the mile in one direction and sixteen in the other direction. The grid's regularity would provide an efficient means to develop new real estate property. A scattering of diagonal streets, many of them originally Indian trails, also cross the city (Elston, Milwaukee, Ogden, Lincoln, etc.). Many additional diagonal streets were recommended in the Plan of Chicago, but only the extension of Ogden Avenue was ever constructed.
Most of the city's residential streets tend to have a wide patch of grass and/or trees between the street and the sidewalk itself. This has the effect of keeping pedestrians walking on the sidewalk further away from the street traffic. Chicago's Western Avenue is the longest continuous urban street in the world. Other famous streets include North Michigan Avenue, North State Street, Clark, and Belmont Avenue. The City Beautiful movement inspired Chicago's boulevards and parkways.
