Illinois Tourist Attractions, Chicago, Illinois Travel Guide | Top 43 Places To Visit in Illinois
Illinois is a state in the Midwestern area of the United States. It is the sixth most crowded state and 25th biggest state as far as land zone, and is regularly noted as a microcosm of the whole country. With Chicago in the upper east, little modern urban communities and incredible agrarian profitability in focal and northern Illinois, and characteristic assets like coal, timber, and oil in the south, Illinois has a differing financial base and is a noteworthy transportation center point. The Port of Chicago interfaces the state to other worldwide ports from the Great Lakes, by means of the Saint Lawrence Seaway, to the Atlantic Ocean, and the Great Lakes to the Mississippi River, by means of the Illinois Waterway.

State Police Interrupt a Gold Mining Operation in Oregon!
Our mining claim neighbors called the Cops! People living on the other side of the river where our mining claim is and not liking our mining, called the cops. It appears our neighbors just did not want their liberal utopia disturbed so they call the cops to harass us. The police were very cool as I knew one of them from checking our permits on another river couple months earlier and an Oregon DEQ meeting he showed up at. The rude lady yells to at from other side of river you need a permit to do that...we had them of course. She also told cops we were disrespecful and rude to her...which was totally false. She made up her own narrative about what was happening to justify her being annoyed. Liberal tactic # 3, change the narrative or just plain lie!
This is the short version of the video, filmed on the Applegate River in Oregon while we were LEGALLY GOLD MINING!
In the video, it is a continuous video, shot on my GoPro camera that I was wearing on my head. The video shows me mining and moving around with no editing to show what actually goes on while mining. Then my buddy is helping me move rocks while I'm using a sub-surface dredge...then the cops show up , and I tell him is where the action starts.
UPDATE Jan 1st, 2015: In response to some of the comments saying we are uneducated, rednecks and other stuff...the guys in the video are as follows. One is a millionaire CPA, another a self employed business owner, two others are also self employed and owns a body shop and the other an internet marketer and freelance videographer, and lastly one is the son of the CPA guy and currently in college.
Oregon Mining Law:
Next time this happens, I will ask the State Police to cite the offending people who disrupt our mining operation based on this Oregon Mining Law:
ORS 517.133 Interfering with a mining operation. (1) As used in this section, lawful mining operation means any small scale mining operation that is in full compliance with state and federal laws.
(2) A person commits the crime of interfering with a mining operation if the person intentionally:
(a) Interferes with a lawful mining operation; or
(b) Stops, or causes to be stopped, a lawful mining operation.
(3) Interfering with a mining operation is a Class C misdemeanor. [1999 c.354 §6]

Hike to Heron Pond at Cache River Natural Area, IL 11-5-16 (Southern Cypress Swamp)
The Cache River Natural Area is a 14,960 acre tract of land located in Johnson, Massac and Pulaski Counties, southern Illinois. In the heart of this area, located in Johnson County, lies the 75 acre Heron Pond, which is home to 1,000 year old Cypress trees. And while you're in The Land of Lincoln there is a distinct southern feel to this area.
Here is an excerpt from the Map/Pamphlet of the area: When storms pushed Norseman Leif Ericsson westward to the North American continent 1,000 years ago, many of the cypress trees of today's Cache River State Natural Area were just saplings. By the time Christopher Columbus landed in the Western Hemisphere 500 years later, they had grown into ancient trees that towered above even more ancient blackwater swamps.
Cache River State Natural Area is situated in southernmost Illinois within a floodplain carved long ago by glacial floodwater of the Ohio River. When the Ohio River adopted its present course, it left the Cache River to meander across rich and vast wetlands. Among the outstanding natural features found within the area today are massive cypress trees whose flared bases, called buttresses, exceed 40 feet in circumference. Many are more than 1,000 years old, including one that has earned the title of state champion bald cypress because of its huge trunk girth, towering height and heavily branched canopy.
Despite intensive efforts to convert land along the Cache River to cropland, the land that today makes up the Cache River State Natural Area has managed to hold onto some of the highest quality aquatic and terrestrial natural communities remaining in Illinois. Wetlands within this area are so important to migratory waterfowl and shorebirds that in 1996 the RAMSAR Convention collectively designated them a Wetland of Inter-national Importance, only the 15th wetland in the United States to receive this distinction.
It is within southern Illinois that north meets south and east meets west. With its diversity of soils, bedrock and landforms, the Cache River Valley contains four distinct ecological regions. Its hodgepodge of ecological factors has results in a collage of natural communities, each with its own unique assemblage of physical attributes, plants and animals. The hike: On this day we started at the trailhead, near the town of Belknap and hiked the short distance to the pond and back out for a total of 1.5 miles. Also, we made the short walk to the Illinois champion Cherry Bark Oak Tree, plus skirted the eastern edge of the pond for a little while. Estimated total length of hike: 2 miles. The terrain was easy and nearly all flat. We rate this trail 1 out of 5 Billygoats. Thanks for watching!
