Cambria - California Travel Tips
Today we're heading to the Central Coast for 10 Things to Do in Cambria, California! Cambria is located on beautiful Pacific Coast Highway 1 (between Morro Bay and San Simeon), and about halfway between LA and San Francisco.
Most Cambria hotels are located on Moonstone Beach Boulevard or in the town's East Village district. This is where you'll also find most of the shops and restaurants in Cambria.

Orange County, California, is sandwiched between the vibrant metropolis of Los Angeles and the relaxed waves of San Diego. “OC,” as it’s called by locals, is a group of cities located along the Pacific coastline and inland.
Begin your Orange County sightseeing with a history lesson. Mission San Juan Capistrano, located on the county’s southernmost tip, features the oldest Californian buildings in use today, and you can tour these almost any day of the week. Just a few years later and a few miles to the north, the sleepy town of Laguna Beach attracted new types of worshippers, namely sun and nature lovers. In the late 19th century, it became a playground for the vacationing wealthy. These days, Laguna Beach is full of hills, winding streets, and creative personalities, and is the perfect place to shop for art.
If you’re looking for something a little off the beaten path, Crystal Cove is the place for you. Where else can you stay in antique cabins put together from old Hollywood movie sets? Not in Newport Beach, where sprawling, million-dollar homes line the harbor. Can you believe you could once buy lots here for $1 an acre?
Hit the waves in Huntington Beach, then head inland to explore the theme parks. The grandfather of all amusement parks is Disneyland®: it’s stood in Anaheim since 1965. Not far away is Knott’s Berry Farm®, once a collection of relocated ghost towns that evolved into a series of rides and amusements intended to celebrate the pioneer spirit.
Do you like monkeys? Do you like to count monkeys? Head over to the Santa Ana Zoo and see how far you get. The benefactors donated the land on which it sits on the condition that there would be at least 50 primates in the collection at all times, and it’s up to you to make sure that promise is kept.
Despite its various architectural marvels, theme parks, and numerous activities, Orange County is famed for something much simpler: its sunsets. Head over to the nearest beach and watch the sun disappear into the Pacific today.

Road Trip | Los Angeles to Las Vegas
Road trip video covering the journey from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, with a slight detour to cover some of Route 66 a.k.a. The Mother Road. This video concludes our 4 nights in Los Angeles and the next chapter of our adventure in Las Vegas
Total journey distance was 372 miles based on our trip starting in Glendale, Los Angeles. The route involved I-210, I-15 and of course a short leg on Route 66. Our destination was the Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino, which is located just off the Las Vegas Strip. We paid a little extra to get a strip view. The hotel was very nice and despite not being a 'strip hotel' proved to be quite close with a free shuttle bus service. As the hotel was not on the strip the cost per night was alot less than the strip based hotels. Another advantage was the plentiful and free parking on-site. We stayed in Las Vegas for 4 nights, so more videos on Las Vegas and nearby attractions to follow shortly!
Highlights of trip include:
- Elmer's Bottle Tree Ranch (Oro Grande, CA)
- Barstow (Harvey House & North American Railroad Museum)
***Barstow is also home to the Route 66 museum however at the time of our arrival it was closed for the day.
We also passed by the Calico Ghost town, however it wasn't really worth spending any time there as it was a tourist trap and did not have an authentic ghost town feel (Good for families, not for urban explorers). At a later date, I'll be releasing a video of a real ghost town that we visited that was in the middle of nowhere!
Our road trip through California and Nevada was with a 2017 Ford Explorer XLT an SUV that we hired on previous trips to the US - proved to be a very comfortable vehicle and fuel economy was reasonable too given the size of vehicle (Averaging 23 MPG).

After traveling in Mexico for 16 months, we're FINALLY taking on CDMX for the first time. Mexico City, YAY!

If you’re visiting Mexico City in 2019, you’re probably going to be just as overwhelmed as we were. In this travel video, we take you to Chapultepec Park (Bosque de Chapultepec), Soumaya museum, the neighborhood La Condesa, and finally to the outskirts of Mexico City in Santa Fe.
We ended up staying in Santa Fe for 6 of our 7 nights in Mexico City. Although we thought this part of the city was unique and upscale, we don't recommend staying this far away from the action of Mexico City. If you're anything like us, you’ll definitely prefer to be in a more centrally-located neighborhood such as La Condesa or Roma. Coyoacan is another highly-recommended area, although not as central. We REALLY enjoyed our first night by Bosque de Chapultepec (the huge Mexico City park) for our first night, but it is a pretty expensive area.
If staying in one of the more desirable areas we mentioned above, expect it to be more expensive than most other cities in Mexico. We definitely underestimated how much we’d need for our food and drink budget while in CDMX.
