This beautiful chalet is located just outside the village of Stadl which lies on the borders of the provinces of Salzburg, Styria and Carinthia. The region is primarily known for its many lakes as well as the majestic Hohe Tauern mountain range. With skiing between 1700 and 2200m it boasts some of Austrias most snow sure skiing yet also benefits from over 200 days sunshine a year, making it a truly dual season resort. The Almdorf Kreischberg chalets are located in the northernmost part of Styria in the lovely peaceful village of Stadl. Stadl is positioned between the two skiing areas of Kreischberg and Turracher which offer over 40km of skiing; it is also only 45km from the Obertauern ski region which has 120km of pistes and at 1700m is also snow sure. The village of Stadl an der Mur with a population of 1,200 inhabitants is situated quite close to the source of the river Mur. Stadl really offers you a variety of activities! The local leisure centre, an all-purpose leisure facility providing a bathing lake, a wooden playground, a tennis court, beach volleyball facilities and a half pipe for inline skaters, awaits. If you are into adventure, you can also go for a rafting trip on the river Mur.
In Winter, On your doorstep are the ski regions of Turracher & Kreischberg which have nearly 70km of skiing including 24 lifts, 8 chairlifts, 14 drag lifts, 2 cable cars, snow park, half pipe, ski school for children from 4 years old, 25km of cross country ski tracks, toboggan runs, ice-skating on the lake Turracher See, snow shoe hikes; night skiing, tobogganing, and horse-drawn sleigh rides. Snow canons cover the entire Turracher region so snow is guaranteed.
A little further away (45km) is the Obertauern ski region with over 100km of pistes. It is one of the most snow sure resorts in Austria, and offers good skiing for experts, intermediates and beginners.
In summer, Stadl offers many great hiking opportunities! The big advantage being: You can cover the initial vertical distance by cableway, and start your hike at the tree line. Here you will find yourself surrounded by Austrias largest Swiss stone pine forest; the Swiss stone pine is a slow growing, compact, extremely cold-hardy tree which can reach an age of 1000 years and gives excellent pollen-free mountain air. The children can also enjoy Kreischbergs dinosaur forest for an adventure.
Apart from enjoying the splendour of the many mountain lakes in the summer the region also offers: Mountain bike trails, Summer tobogganing, Fishing in the lake Turracher See, Tennis courts, Nockberge National Park and scenic Nockalmstrasse route, Thermal and healing bath Karlbad with natural Schaffelbad in the National Park, Reptile zoo in Patergassen, Rafting on the Mur, Mur biking trail, Horse riding & trekking in Bad Kleinkirchheim, 13 golf courses within 15 to 90 min. by car; the closest is located in Bad Kleinkirchheim (15 min by car)
