Scottsdale, and Phoenix Arizona
In my visit to Phoenix, and Scottsdale Arizona I learn that the area is one of the best for golf enthusiasts, but beyond that there aren't very many attractions. The weather is great and the low population in the surrounding area means you have a lot of privacy. It has high end shopping and wild west west style themed points of interest.
I visited the old town Scottsdale, Taliesin West and then Phoenix at night.
Northern Arizona Attractions
Northern Arizona Attractions: For sheer variety, there aren't too many places that can beat Northern Arizona for landscape and beauty.
If you base yourself in the town of Sedona (which lies about 120 miles north of Phoenix), you'll find accommodation, shops and restaurants. And a few minutes away is the famous Slide Rock in Oak Creek Canyon. This is fun for all ages, plus, Oak Creek is great for fishing.
From Sedona you can explore other Northern Arizona attractions including the Grand Canyon carved out of the land surface by the Colorado River. Be prepared for some incredible views!
Between Sedona and the Canyon is Flagstaff, one of the few places in Arizona where you can go skiing.
There are several other Northern Arizona attractions within a few hours' drive of Sedona, such as the Meteor Crater, Petrified Forest National Park (with the newspaper rock petroglyphs), the Painted Desert, Glen Canyon Bridge, and Montezuma's Castle. All of them are worth the trip, and make Northern Arizona one of the most attractive areas in the country for a vacation.
