Rosh Pina is a town and local council in the Upper Galilee on the eastern slopes of Mount Kna'an in the Northern District of Israel. The town with the current name was founded in 1882 by thirty families who immigrated from Romania, making it one of the oldest Zionist settlements in Israel. It was preceded at the same location by the settlement of Gei Oni , established by local Jews from Safed in 1878, which had been, however, almost fully abandoned by 1882. In 2017 it had a population of 3,061.

The Sea of Galilee , Kinneret or Kinnereth, Lake of Gennesaret, or Lake Tiberias, is a freshwater lake in Israel. It is approximately 53 km in circumference, about 21 km long, and 13 km wide. Its area is 166.7 km2 at its fullest, and its maximum depth is approximately 43 m . At levels between 215 metres and 209 metres below sea level, it is the lowest freshwater lake on Earth and the second-lowest lake in the world . The lake is fed partly by underground springs although its main source is the Jordan River which flows through it from north to south.

Beit She'an is a city in the Northern District of Israel which has played an important role in history due to its geographical location at the junction of the Jordan River Valley and the Jezreel Valley. In the Biblical account of the battle of the Israelites against the Philistines on Mount Gilboa, the bodies of King Saul and three of his sons were hung on the walls of Beit She'an . In Roman times, Beit She'an was the leading city of the Decapolis. In modern times, Beit She'an serves as a regional center for the settlements in the Beit She'an Valley. The ancient city ruins are now protected within the Beit She'an National Park.

Sermon on the Mount, Mount of Beatitudes, Israel

The Mount of Beatitudes is on the northwestern shore of the Sea of Galilee, above Capernaum, and is approached by a special road branching from the main road going up to Rosh Pina (route 90).

According to tradition, Jesus taught his disciples the Sermon on the Mount as related by Matthew (Matt.5:3-11). Verses 5:3-11 of the sermon begin with the words blessed are, hence the name Beatitude which means Blessing in Latin.

The church designed by the architect Antonio Barluzzi, in neo-Renaissance style. Built of contrasting black basalt and white limestone, it has arched porticos on each of the four sides. The one-storey building is surmounted by a buttressed octagonal drum and dome rising above the main chapel. The octagonal shape of the church commemorates the eight Beatitudes. The mosaic floor is decorated with symbols of the seven virtues of man referred to in the sermon.

The shrine and adjoining hospice for pilgrims are served by the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The property itself is owned by an Italian Catholic society (Associazione Nazionale per soccorrere i Missionari Italian).

Israel’s northern port city of Acre (Acco), a UNESCO World Heritage Site, contains the architectural and archeological traces of the Canaanites, the Israelites, the Romans, the Byzantines, the Crusaders, the Mamluks, the Turks and the British.

The Old City, surrounded by an ancient stone wall, boasts Oriental markets, museums, fortresses, mosques, churches, synagogues, a marina – and of course, restaurants offering a variety of classic Mediterranean foods.

One tourist interviewed on this video says she comes just to eat the hummus and watch the people in Old Acre.
