The Louvre Palace and TheTuileries Garden - Paris City, France
The #Louvre #Palace (French: Palais du Louvre, ) is a former royal palace located on the Right Bank of the Seine in #Paris, between the #Tuileries #Gardens and the church of Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois. Originally a fortress built in the medieval period, it became a royal palace in the fourteenth century under Charles V and was used from time to time by the kings of #France as their main Paris residence. Its present structure has evolved in stages since the 16th century. In 1793 part of the Louvre became a public museum, now the Musée du Louvre, which has expanded to occupy most of the building.
The present-day Louvre Palace is a vast complex of wings and pavilions on four main levels which, although it looks to be unified, is the result of many phases of building, modification, destruction and restoration. The Palace is situated in the right-bank of the River Seine between Rue de Rivoli to the north and the Quai François Mitterrand to the south. To the west is the Jardin des Tuileries and, to the east, the Rue de l'Amiral de Coligny, where its most architecturally famous façade, the Louvre Colonnade, and the Place du Louvre are found. The complex occupies about 40 hectares and forms two main quadrilaterals which enclose two large courtyards: the Cour Carrée (Square Courtyard), completed under Napoleon I, and the larger Cour Napoléon (Napoleon Courtyard) with the Cour du Carrousel to its west, built under Napoleon III. The Cour Napoléon and Cour du Carrousel are separated by the street known as the Place du Carrousel.
The Tuileries Garden (French: Jardin des Tuileries,) is a public garden located between the Louvre Museum and the Place de la Concorde in the 1st arrondissement of Paris. Created by Catherine de' Medici as the garden of the Tuileries Palace in 1564, it was eventually opened to the public in 1667 and became a public park after the French Revolution. In the 19th and 20th centuries, it was a place where Parisians celebrated, met, strolled, and relaxed.

Fouquet's Château, Vaux-le-Vicompte-This is what made the Sun King jealous
The grandiose and awe-inspiring Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte is what made Louis XIV jealous and led to a major historical event that resulted in the tragic eviction of its creator, Nicolas Fouquet.
It all started In 1657, when Nicolas Fouquet, the Superintendent of Finance for Louis XIV, hired the Architect Louis Le Vau to built a castle, the Painter Le Brun to do its decorations ,and the gardener Le Nôtre to create its gardens. At the inaugural party of the chateau on August 17, 1661, the dinner was prepared by François Vatel; the entertainment included a play, courtesy of Molièr, plus an elaborate fireworks display, all for the King of France, Louis XIV, and his court.
King Louis, prompted by a jealous rival for the Finance position, decided that the chateau was too luxurious and impressive and that this finance minister must have misappropriated state funds to build it. Fouquet was imprisoned for life and his wife exiled. The king confiscated much of the furnishings and art. Fouquet was to remain imprisoned at Pignerol, in the French Alps, until his death in 1680. Many suspected that Fouquet was the man in the iron mask, including Alexandre Dumas, who fictionalized the story in le Vicomte de Bragelonne.
