It has an independent government, post office, banks and even its own flag. It has a population of 6000 citizens. Milan Cathedral is the cathedral church of Milan, Lombardy, Italy. Dedicated to St Mary of the Nativity, it is the seat of the Archbishop of Milan, currently Archbishop Mario Delpini. The Gothic cathedral took nearly six centuries to complete. It is the largest church in Italy (the larger St. Peter's Basilica is in the State of Vatican City) and the third largest in the world.
Milan's layout, with streets either radiating from the Duomo or circling it, reveals that the Duomo occupies what was the most central site in Roman Mediolanum, that of the public basilica facing the forum. The first cathedral, the new basilica (basilica nuova) dedicated to St Thecla, was completed by 355. It seems to share, on a slightly smaller scale, the plan of the contemporaneous church recently rediscovered beneath Tower Hill in London.
Duomo di Milano was built over several hundred years in a number of contrasting styles and the quality of the workmanship varies markedly. Reactions to it have ranged from admiration to disfavour. The Guida d’Italia: Milano 1998 (Touring Club Editore, p. 154) points out that the early Romantics tended to praise it in “the first intense enthusiasms for Gothic.” As the Gothic Revival brought in a purer taste, condemnation was often equally intense.
The interior of the cathedral includes numerous monuments and artworks. These include:
At the left of the altar is located the most famous statue of all the Cathedral, the Saint Bartholomew Flayed (1562), by Marco d'Agrate, the saint shows his flayed skin thrown over his shoulders like a stole.
The Archbishop Alberto da Intimiano's sarcophagus, which is overlooked by a Crucifix in copper laminae (a replica).
The sarcophagi of the archbishops Ottone Visconti and Giovanni Visconti, created by a Campionese master in the 14th century.
The sarcophagus of Marco Carelli, who donated 35,000 ducati to accelerate the construction of the cathedral.
The three magnificent altars by Pellegrino Pellegrini, which include the notable Federico Zuccari's Visit of St. Peter to St. Agatha jailed.
In the right transept, the monument to Gian Giacomo Medici di Marignano, called Medeghino, by Leone Leoni, and the adjacent Renaissance marble altar, decorated with gilt bronze statues.
The presbytery is a late Renaissance masterpiece composing a choir, a Temple by Pellegrini, two pulpits with giant atlantes covered in copper and bronze, and two large organs. Around the choir the two sacristies' portals, some frescoes and a fifteenth-century statue of Martin V by Jacopino da Tradate) can be seen.
The transepts house the Trivulzio Candelabrum, which is in two pieces. The base (attributed to Nicolas of Verdun, 12th century), characterized by a fantastic ensemble of vines, vegetables and imaginary animals; and the stem, of the mid-16th century.
In the left aisle, the Arcimboldi monument by Alessi and Romanesque figures depicting the Apostles in red marble and the neo-Classic baptistry by Pellegrini.
A small red light bulb in the dome above the apse marks the spot where one of the nails reputedly from the Crucifixion of Christ has been placed. The Holy Nail is retrieved and exposed to the public every year, during a celebration known as the Rite of the Nivola.
In November–December, in the days surrounding the birthdate of Saint Charles Borromeo, a series of large canvases, the Quadroni are exhibited along the nave.
Since September 2005, in the cathedral’s crypt, beside the relics of Saint Charles Borromeo, there has been a video installation by English artist Mark Wallinger. Entitled Via Dolorosa, it consists of a 18 minutes film reproducing scenes of the Passion excerpted from the film Jesus of Nazareth by Franco Zeffirelli.
In November 2014 a white marble sculpture by Tony Cragg inspired to the Madonna statue on the rooftop was installed.
The 5-manual, 225-rank pipe-organ, built jointly by the Tamburini and Mascioni Italian organbuilding firms on Mussolini's command, is currently the largest organ in all of Italy.

[FHD] - “PINK SONIC” - OPEN AIR CONCERT tribute to “PINK FLOYD” - JUNE, 15th 2019 - CANON EOS M100
A live event not to be missed, especially because it was held in my own (small) town, an open air concert in a public place, just a few hundreds yards from where I live. One of the many shows that are being held in Europe this year and part of a tribute to the famous british band, the Pink Floyd.
PINK SONIC… ON THE HIGHEST PEAK REACHING FOR GILMOUR
The project that brings Pink Floyd’s myth on Europe’s most important stages.
The “Pink Sonic” project idea first came in 2011.
Chief and essence of the project is Captain “Francesco Pavananda, singer and guitar player of great international stature, with his talent and eccentricity: since over 20 years he’s been living with his 33 cats in a very remote and secluded location in the high mountains, almost entirely isolated from the rest of the world. In this complete isolation, he’s devoting himself, night and day, at the continuous, exhaustive and perennial search for great sounds and perfect rig. His home, full of amplifiers, guitars and every imaginable gadget and electronics, becomes the ideal and suggestive scenario for his spasmodic search for “soul”, “hearth” and sound of David Gilmour.
Francesco Pavananda, his maniacal artistic direction, the very accurate selection of his music artists, lights, his “lasers”, accurately programmed by himself and his unfailing “circle” of 5 meters in diameter, where some very inspiring, oneiric, and very dreamlike, images are being projected along with the 32 moving heads around it, with those superb light designs, make the show a brilliant, unique and extraordinary event, more focused on “emotion”, rather than on the technical aspect, as fulcrum of the entire show from the Pink Sonic.
The myth of the Pink Floyd at this summer event in all its glory. The people who gathered at this live event were totally transported and dragged by the music of the british band, masterfully played and singed by the Pink Sonic. A very accurate and carefully planned in every single detail show, with great light effects enhancing, even more, the skills of the band.

The open air concert lasted almost 2 and a half hours. I took roughly 50 minutes worth of footage of this live event. Nearly half of the clips were shot very close to the stage, others from distance: that night there was a thunderstorm going on in the nearest village (about 1 km away, with very heavy hail), as you can see in some clips, and there it rained a little bit, every now and then, so occasionally I needed to find a secure and secluded place to shoot safely (I had no umbrellas with me) without risking my camera and gears. We were lucky not to find ourselves at the heart of the thunderstorm, that night. This video is a sound/music/video mix-up of the entire event and was shot with my CANON EOS M100 APS-C mirror-less camera, with primarily its 15-45mm f3.5-6.3 kit lens. A few clips were also shot with a Neewer 35mm f1.7 fixed focal, fast, lens.
Sound was captured natively by the camera built-in microphones. The audio is pretty good even on the camera’s internal mics. I could have used my CANON EOS M instead to shoot this event and therefore take advantage of the external mic input and use my Rode Go mic for better audio but I preferred to shoot with the M100, maybe more suited for low light situations.
Editing:
DaVinci Resolve 16 beta 4. All clips were only marginally retouched as for exposure, contrast, shadows and mid-tones. No color grading applied, only stabilization to about 40% of the clips. Video rendered in FHD, 1080p @60fps with “medium quality” setting, due to the overall length of the video. Video file-size: 4.41GB. Average bit-rate: 26 Mbps.
