Pichlern to Nockalmstraße - The North Toll Booth L267 -L19.mov
Anyone travelling from the direction of Tamsweg, Mauterndorf or Sankt Michael Im Lungau and intending to visit Nockalmstraße and the Nockalm National Park from the North Toll Booth could do a lot worse than take this route as an alternative to the A10/B99.
Mostly a mixture of long straights and sweeping bends through forest and open ground with pleasant views on a narrowish road. It is a shade under 20km and passes through very little habitation. Make sure you fill up your tank before you get there because if you are passing through Nockalm National Park you will not find a petrol station for over 60km. On the whole the road surface is very good with the odd cattle grid along the way. However, there is a very bad section of tarmac at Schonfeld where you cross from Steiermark to Corinthia and lasts for several kilometres. No problem on an adventure bike but can be uncomfortable on a sports bike. No other hazards to note but just be aware of tree felling and the associated logging lorries at certain times. I have used this section of road very early in the season when Nockalmstraße has still been been closed and have had no problems. Sorry for the interference on the video, the camera was playing up
