As a part of my world trip, I have spent 3 weeks in Melbourne, Australia with my best friend; where we visited the main attractions and must see places, and captured them in this travel video as a travel guide for your vacation. During our search of things to do in Melbourne, we got to know more about the life in so called the most liveable city, so let me know if you have any questions about the life in Melbourne :)

Bendigo, Victoria, Australia
Bendigo is a large regional city in Victoria, Australia, population 100,000 (making it the 3rd largest settlement in the state). Bendigo is located some 140 km north-north-west of Melbourne. It is beautiful city with grand Victorian architecture, more opulent than that generally seen in country Australia. This is as a result of the Gold Rush.
Bendigo grew to a bustling town during the Gold Rush Era of the 1850s. The wealth created during this period resulted many fine Victorian era buildings in the down town and surrounding areas. This type of architecture is not common to most country towns in Australia.
The town has more sunny days per year than Queensland. Being north of the Great Dividing Range, it has also far less rain than Melbourne. Summers are hot and dry, up to 40 degrees Celsius or more on some days. Winters tend to be mild; with lowest temperatures around minus 5 degrees Celsius overnight and around 15 during the day.
Sheep, cattle, fruit, wine and cereal crops are the most common products of the area. Gold is being discovered again in large quantities at deeper levels in the old mines with new technology.
Before European settlement the are was occupied by the clans of the Dja Dja Wrung people. They were regarded by other tribes as being a superior people, not only because of their rich hunting grounds but because from their area came a greenstone rock for their stone axes. Early Europeans described the Dja Dja Wrung as a strong, physically well-developed people and not belligerent. Nevertheless the early years of European settlement in the Mount Alexander area were bloodied by many clashes between intruder and dispossessed.
Major Mitchell passed through the area in 1836. Following his discovery, the first squatters arrived in 1840 to establish vast sheep runs. Bendigo Creek was part of the Mount Alexander or Ravenswood sheep run.
It is generally acknowledged that Mrs John Kennedy and Mrs Patrick Farrell, wives of workmen on the Ravenswood run, found gold at 'The Rocks' - now an identified location that can be visited at the junction of Bendigo Creek and Maple Street.

Melbourne is the coastal capital of the southeastern Australian state of Victoria. Melbourne Museum and the Royal Exhibition Building explore city history and culture. The Immigration Museum and the Chinese Museum provide differing cultural perspectives on local settlement, while Old Melbourne Gaol offers insight into 19th-century prison life. A major shopping destination is Queen Victoria Market, a Victorian-era building with food stalls. The city’s 19th-century laneways and shopping arcades are lined with cafes, galleries and boutiques. The riverside Royal Botanic Gardens shelter 10,000-plus plant species, and Yarra Park is home to the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Weather and Events:
Most visitors arrive during summer (Dec–Mar) when popular events include the Australian Open tennis finals (Jan) and the LBGT-focused Midsumma Festival (Jan–Feb). Also drawing crowds are the Moomba arts festival (Mar), known for its parade and carnival; the Royal Melbourne Show (Sep), an agricultural fair; and the Melbourne Festival (Oct), with many free performances. Melbourne's climate is temperate but quite variable, with cool temperatures during winter (Jun–Aug).

ITV & The Great Australian Balloon Adventure
Stephen Tompkinson, from Wild at Heart fame, has completed his travels in the ITV series the African Balloon Adventure and now it's Australia's turn.
Stephen with his pilot Robin Batchelor have come to film the next TV series and Picture This Ballooning was there to help out, both with flight services and logistics.
There were two places that were on the list.
1. The junction of the Murray and Darling Rivers
2. Melbourne's Sporting Precinct (the MCG, Rod Laver Arena, Old Olympic Park, AAMI stadium)
This is not always as easy as it seems as hot air balloons are completely dependent on wind and accuracy requires a lot of expertise.
Our own Paul Gibbs assisted with Daisy (as they call their balloon) and with Pete flying beside them for a video/photography platform they flew directly over the MCG as planned.
So how does Australia stack up against Africa?
After flying over Melbourne Stephen said, I was like a kid in a candy shop. It was a flight that I will remember for the rest of my days.
