Ocean To Lake Trail 2019
The annual Ocean To Lake Trail section hike hosted by the Florida Trail Association - Loxahatchee chapter. Six days of hiking through some premier South Florida wilderness areas. The trail runs for approximately 63 miles, west from Hobe Sound Beach to Lake Okeechobee where it ends at the Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail (LOST) trailhead, which is approximately two and a half miles south of Port Mayaca. The trail starts at the ocean, entering Jonathan Dickinson State Park at US 1, traveling through the park, Palm Beach County Natural Areas, Corbett Wildlife Management Area and Dupuis Management Area, and ends at the lake. The ecosystems on this beautiful trail change approximately every mile, from ancient sand dunes with scrub oak and sand pine to pine flat woods, palmetto and oak hammocks, cypress swamp and wet prairies. The temperature during this years hike topped 85 degrees with very high humidity. about 15-20 miles of this years hike was under water; average depth was ankle to knee deep!

Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch, is the name given to a cryptid ape- or hominid-like creature that some people believe inhabits forests, mainly in the Pacific Northwest region of North America. Bigfoot is usually described as a large, hairy, bipedal humanoid. The term sasquatch is an anglicized derivative of the Halkomelem word sásq'ets . Most scientists discount the existence of Bigfoot and consider it to be a combination of folklore, misidentification, and hoax, rather than a living animal, because of the lack of physical evidence and the large numbers of creatures that would be necessary to maintain a breeding population.

'Dusty' the dolphin attacks woman
A dolphin that is a local celebrity in Doolin, Ireland, has been filmed attacking a woman swimming in the sea alongside the mammal.
The woman was injured when, local celebrity and much loved Dusty the dolphin, attacked her while she was swimming off Doolin Pier.
The dolphin is believed to have struck the woman in the kidney area with its nose, leaving her winded and shouting to be rescued.
In the video, Dusty can be seen swimming around two people in the water while other members of the public look on from the pier.
The mammal then begins to splash its tail around and it can be seen swimming up to the woman.
She lets out a scream of pain before shouting for the people on the pier to get her out of the water.
The woman is pulled from the sea by a man and can be seen lying down trying to catch her breath after being winded.
Dusty has long been a local resident in the shores off County Clare, but in recent months has been responsible for injuring several people.

Captains Courageous by Rudyard Kipling
Real men don't take guff from snotty kids. Neither does Disko Troop, skipper of the We're Here, a fishing schooner out of Gloucester, Massachusetts, when his crew fishes Harvey Cheyne out of the Atlantic. There's no place on the Grand Banks for bystanders, so Harvey is press-ganged into service as a replacement for a man lost overboard and drowned. Harvey is heir to a vast fortune, but his rescuers believe none of what he tells them of his background. Disko won't take the boat to port until it is full of fish, so Harvey must settle in for a season at sea. Hard, dangerous work and performing it alongside a grab-bag of characters in close quarters is a life-changing experience.

AROUND THE WORLD without visas
You will not surprise anyone with around-the-world travel in the 21st century. People span the globe by land, water and air, on foot and by bicycles, alone and with their families. Generally speaking, any around the world travel is, in fact, a journey home with the longest detour.
Nonsense! Thus, around the world travelers are forced to think of new vehicles – from stilts to a children's scooter, or of new conceptual ideas.
Valery Shanin can not complain about lack of ideas. The professional traveler, writer and journalist, began his first circumnavigation back in 1999. He returned home only in 2002, traveling mostly hitchhiking. On the one hand, he has spent 1080 days for this travel. And on the other – only 280 dollars! This way having made one of the most economical circumnavigations.
Five years later, Valery Shanin had another idea. How about trying to circle the Earth as quickly as possible, by saving time instead of money? How many days would be necessary for this purpose? 108 – such is Valery's answer. After having returned home from such a high-speed expedition, Shanin decided, that the subject of circumnavigations was settled for him.
But how can the traveler stay still at home? And here, a new idea turned out! It came obviously from the former traveling experience, that was often connected with the burdensome procedure of obtaining visas. Communication with the embassy and consulate officials, unfortunately, inevitably saddens any most interesting travel. However, there are countries, visa-free for Russians! So, it is possible to go traveling, without addressing consulates. This is how the project The World without Visas was brought to life.
Valery decided to begin with no less, than with a circumnavigation.
Around the world without visas! - Shanin put forward the loud slogan, and left for Europe, Africa, Middle East, Indochina, South East Asia, Oceania, South America, Carribean islands. 38 countries in 255 days and with no one visit to any consulate.
Don Walsh: Going the Last Seven Miles | Talks at Google
Captain Don Walsh stops by the Googleplex to discuss: Going the Last Seven Miles - a Personal Odyssey. Don Walsh and Jacques Piccard were the first people to go to the Marianas Trench over 50 years ago. Only James Cameron has been back since. Don jokes that he should have written a book called The Right Stuff, Wrong Direction, alluding to how much public interest space has generated related to the deep ocean, our own innerspace. He advises the XPRIZE, is an Ocean Elder, and has captained a nuclear submarine. Next year he'll be on a National Geographic Lindblad expedition through the Northwest Passage.
Don also spoke at the 2013 Google Zeitgeist.
