What to do in Santa Barbara - plan your trip; in one day you can visit the Danish Village of Solvang: try authentic Danish cakes and pastries, have their famous breakfast, taste some wine at the village or take a tour to wine country (save some Danish for later). Head to Cachuma Lake for some fresh air, park at a vista point to enjoy the beautiful scenery, visit the Dam on Cachuma Lake. Don't miss the Santa Barbara Mission, take a self guided tour that costs five dollars (children and seniors have discounts). Have a picnic at the mission Picnic Area; leftover breakfast, lunch or Danish from Solvang are ideal. Afterwards relax at the beach at Stearns Warf: one of the cleanest beaches with soft waves. Stroll on the pier. You will also see the Mission Creek at the beach. Take an electric trolley, walk or drive to Downtown Santa Barbara; chances are you will see mass of bikers, street performers... You can dine in Downtown Santa Barbara. You can spend a fun day if you live Southern California, say in Los Angeles, or two or more days if you live further; it is approximately 2 ½ hour drive from Los Angeles (also depends what part of L.A. you are from). Cachuma Lake & How To Get Full Hookups Under $20 in CA!!
I do the math, and sure enough, it isn't very hard to get full hookups and average less than $20 a night using Thousand Trails. I do the math toward the end of this video. California is expensive, but the Thousand Trails membership we are testing out is working!

Lake Cachuma is renowned for it's excellent trout fishing facilities, High grade camp-sites and RV sites with FULL hook-ups. They also hire Yurts which sleep up to 6 and fully equipped cabins. There is a well stocked Store, and small outboard boats can be hired on the lake.

Cachuma Lake
Cachuma Lake is a reservoir in the Santa Ynez Valley of central Santa Barbara County, California on the Santa Ynez River adjoining the north side of California State Route 154. The artificial lake was created by the construction of Bradbury Dam, a 201 ft (61 m) earth-fill structure built by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation in 1953. Its surface area covers 3,100 acres (1,300 ha), with a maximum design capacity of 205,000 acre⋅ft (253,000,000 m3), but it is currently limited to 188,000 acre⋅ft (232,000,000 m3) due to sediment accumulation.[1] As of May 23, 2019, it is at 80.8% of capacity.[
Life's a beach at Santa Barbara/Ranch Oso Thousand Trails RV Park
Today I am coming to you from the gorgeous Santa Barbara, California area. While I am staying at the Rancho Oso Thousand Trails RV Park north of Santa Barbara, I enjoy heading to the ocean and California coast while staying here.
The Rancho Oso RV park is a nice place to stay but it is about 22 miles from downtown Santa Barbara. So on nice days like we are having right now, it's nice to come down from the mountains and head to the coast and enjoy the views and great people that you meet down at the beach.
Santa Barbara is a very beautiful place to visit and enjoys a Mediterranean style of climate. There are many great restaurants and wineries in the area to visit. Take a trip up the free elevator at the Santa Barbara historic courthouse for a great view of the city. Or spend a day at the beach like I am doing!
In the meantime, keep your wheels on the ground folks!
