Tubing on the Madison River | Big Boys Toys | Bozeman, MT
Floating the lower Madison River is a summer time tradition enjoyed by the locals of Bozeman, MT. On any given day during the summer people can be seen floating in tubes and rafts along it’s banks.
If floating the Madison is new to you, don’t worry. Big Boys Toys in Bozeman has all the tubes and gear you need to get started. We have the largest selection of float tubes in Southwest Montana and our staff can answer any questions you might have.
From Big Boys Toys travel 17 miles West on highway 84 to Blacks Ford fishing access where you can park your shuttle vehicle, or most weekends look for the Madison River Shuttle. For $5 you can park and the shuttle will take you to the put in at Warm Springs day use area. The Warm Springs day use area has ample parking for extra vehicles as well as bathrooms and easy access to the river.
Once you put in sit back and relax. The first section of the float between Warm Springs and Canaday campground, you can expect to see amazing rock features and landscapes. It really is Big Sky country at it’s best.
Just after the bridge at Canaday there is a boat ramp with parking where some people choose to either put in or take out if they don’t feel like completing the entire 6.5 mile float.
From Canaday, the remaining 3.8 miles is pretty slow going. A cooler tube full of beverages is a must. Take out is at the Blacks Ford boat ramp where you’ll find trash cans and bathrooms before you head back into town to return your tubes.
If you have any questions give us a call at 406-587-4747. Other wise have fun and and remember “What Happens on the Madison…Stays on the Madison!

June 4, 2012 Montana Hail Storm #2
I just realized I can't post the video I took of the worst part of the storm, because we had people running about the house half clothed. I need to figure out how to use a video editing program, because it is a great video of the dog watching the storm through the door. Instead I have to post, after the trees came down, but it is still storming.
