Crissy Field was one of the best views we found of the Golden Gate Bridge!
I never thought that I would get so enthusiastic to look at a bridge... landmarks never really impressed me but this one... every time we crossed it I felt like a kid on a roller-coaster :)
It just has some special vibe...
Later in the evening we also enjoyed the after-sunset view from Sausalito Vista Point, which offers another angle of greatness, definitely recommend it!
Stopping a Disastrous Plan with Science: the Bay Model
John Reber had a plan: to dam the San Francisco Bay. He convinced some politicians - and it took the US Army Corps of Engineers, and the Bay Model they built in Sausalito, to prove him not just wrong, but dangerously wrong.

Drive to Sausalito across Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, California
This was a long drive because the traffic was heavy and I may not have taken the most ideal route. I simply wanted to drive to the library. I didn't find the most ideal spot to park for overnight, but it was a good spot to avoid any short term parking tickets at least. Most of the spots around this area are highly regulated.

Things To Do In Oakland (San Francisco Bay Area)
When visiting the San Francisco Bay Area, definitely add Oakland to your list. It is a fun city with lots to do. Check out these things when you are visiting the San Francisco Bay Area! Start off the trip to Oakland by heading to Lake Merritt. This peaceful location is a great place to walk, run, or stroll or take a picnic. You can also rent a boat from the Lake Merritt Boating Center for $12 hourly. Head over to the Grand Lake Theater for a movie in this historic building. This beautiful theater is filled with ornate decorations and has two huge screening theaters in addition to smaller ones. You can go on Tuesdays for $5 admission or on Wednesdays you can get free popcorn with your admission ticket. While in the Lake district, you can go to the Grand Lake Farmer’s Market. This farmer’s market runs on Saturdays and has many East Bay and Oakland local vendors and farmers. There is a live music, and food trucks and a nice lawn to relax on. You can even sip a cup of Moroccan coffee there! This farmer’s market is right across the Grand Lake Theater in Oakland. A nice neighborhood of Oakland to explore is Rockridge. This area is filled with lots of shops, restaurants, bookstores, and coffee shops. There is a BART stop here, called Rockridge station. My favorite place to eat there is called Cactus Taqueria. Another great thing to do in Oakland is go to Fenton’s Creamery. This is a delicious restaurant and creamery with specialty ice cream sundaes and lunch and dinner. This place was featured in the Disney/ Pixar movie Up because the animators live in Emeryville, CA and love to go there. These cheap, fun, things to do in San Francisco Bay Area are definitely fun for the whole family.

Playa del Rey is a coastal neighborhood and a district of City of Los Angeles. The rolling hills are the result of ancient, wind-blown, compacted sand dunes which rise up to 125 feet above sea level, originally called and often referred to as The Del Rey Hills or The Bluffs.
These dunes run parallel to the coastline, from Playa del Rey, all the way south to Palos Verdes.

Visit to Angel Island in the San Francisco Bay (includes tramlapse tour)
A visit to the largest island in San Francisco Bay: Angel Island. On an unusually warm December day. With the exception of a small portion that is a U.S. Coast Guard Station, the entire island is a California State Park. We arrive and leave by ferry, and take a tramlapse tour around the island, stopping at about 13 different points of interest, including some very good views and a bit of history, too (my first ever tramlapse video). We'll even briefly teleport over to the Golden Gate Bridge.
There are several editing mistakes that snuck through in a few places, oh well... Maybe we'll have a contest to see who can find them all.

I decided NOT to ruin this video by dubbing in music, forcing MY music tastes on YOU.
Also, I opted not to plaster the video with annotations. Depending on response, I may add them later, to the bottom of the video.
In the alternative, below I will narrate what's in the video, you can look for what I am talking about.
1. Departing point was the Ferry Building, literally out back of the new interior building with all the shops and restaurants.
2. Starting at 0:09 Note the Ferry Building clock tower indicating our departure time, 1850.
3. Panning right or clockwise the group of tall buildings to the right of the clock tower is the Embarcadero Center. And there is the Transamerica building at 0:33
4. Coit Tower is next in the shot at 0:39 You can't see it too well, but Coit Tower is lit orange in recognition of the San Francisco Giants recent win over Atlanta.
5. At 1:00 I pan to the left so you can see the entire skyline and catch part of the San Francisco Bay Bridge.
At 3:53 the entire skyline looks great with the moon in the shot.
6. At 4:12 behind Coit Tower is the Pacific Heights area. By the water is Pier 39, but you can see it since it's too dark now.
The Golden Gate Bridge then comes into the shot at 4:40 You can see why people say this ferry boat ride is one of the most beautiful in the world.
7. Alcatraz coming up, at 6:00
8. Back to the City skyline and the Bay Bridge.
9. At 6:34 panning back to the City you can see the Fisherman's Wharf area, Pier 39, and the Ghirardelli sign. Also note Sutro Tower on Twin Peaks.
10. At 7:29 you can see in the middle of the Golden Gate Bridge a lone ship sailing into the Bay. Kinda cool, I think.
11. At 7:50 notice the Alcatraz water tower and incinerator smoke stack. The Alcatraz main cell block is to the left of the water tower.
12. I then wrap up with staying focused on the Golden Gate Bridge and approaching Sausalito.
Sidenote: I used my new Clipper transit card that is the same as using cash, on most transit in the San Francisco Bay Area. Instead of $8 for the trip each way, it was $4!
Clipper cards are simply a blue card that looks like a credit card. You swipe it on the reader at the entrance to the transit you are taking (or exit on some transits). It deducts the fare from the card.
The reader also displays your existing card balance. (And you can add money to the card at any Clipper terminal (usually at all main transit stops or hubs) or via your online account.
If you are planning a visit to San Francisco I suggest online you order a Clipper card for you and each family member and have them mailed to you. A lot cheaper and convenient than paying individual fares. You can even use the Clipper cards on BART trains at the SF airport on your arrival to San Francisco!

Note: Again, this video was shot with my cell phone in camcorder mode. The smartphone is a T-Mobile Vibrant (Samsung Galaxy S) that debuted in July 2010.
I thought it did pretty well considering the lighting conditions. (On reflection I should have adjusted the white balance instead of leaving it on auto.)
Samsung says that the Samsung Galaxy S' software has special low-light functionality. Based on how well this video turned out, looks to me like that's an accurate claim.
