The welfare of animals in rodeo has been a topic of discussion for the industry, the public, and the law for decades. Protests were first raised in the 1870s, and, in the middle twentieth century, laws were enacted to curb events using animals. The American Humane Association has worked with the rodeo industry to establish rules improving animal welfare in rodeo and the treatment of rodeo animals. Today, animal cruelty complaints in rodeo are still very much alive. The PRCA has provided rules for its members regarding animal welfare. Some local rodeos have banned the use of certain rodeo tack including flank straps and certain events such as steer tripping. Some charreada events staged in the United States saw a crack down in the early years of the twenty-first century.

The Marine Mammal Center is a private, non-profit U.S. organization that was established in 1975 for the purpose of rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing, marine mammals who are injured, ill, or abandoned. It was founded in Sausalito, California by Lloyd Smalley, Pat Arrigoni, and Paul Maxwell. Since 1975 they rescued over 20,000 marine mammals. It also serves as a center for environmental research and education regarding marine mammals, namely cetaceans and pinnipeds . Marine mammal abandonment refers to maternal separation; pups that have been separated from their mother before weaning. At the center, they receive specialized veterinary care; diagnosed, treated, rehabilitated, and ideally, released back into the wild. Weekend Getaway in Sausalito, California! [Vlog 93]

A weekend getaway in Sausalito, just a short 30 minutes north of San Francisco across the Golden Gate Bridge. First, a short stop in the city for lunch at Delarosa. Then up to Sausalito for sunset drinks at Bar Bocce.

Then, back to the city for a night out at the new Emporium SF Arcade Bar. Finally, enjoying the sunny blue skies at Sausalito - exploring the docks, cafes, bars, and restaurant scene

Sausalito is a small city situated 7km (4 miles) north of San Francisco, California. Its name comes from Spanish Sauzalito, meaning small willow grove. It offers unique tours, attractions such as “Bay Model” and “Bay Area Discovery Museum,” many boutique shops, art studios and galleries and a wide selection of restaurants, outdoor cafes and bistros, many having stunning views across the bay to the city.
