    Dyrhólaey , formerly known by seamen as Cape Portland, is a small promonotory located on the south coast of Iceland, not far from the village Vík. It was formerly an island of volcanic origin, which is also known by the Icelandic word eyja meaning island. The peninsula has an elevation of 120 feet , and the Dyrhólaey lighthouse sits at the top of the formation facing the sea. The view from Dyrhólaey is broad: To the north is to be seen the big glacier Mýrdalsjökull. To the east, the black lava columns of the Reynisdrangar come out of the sea, and to the west the whole coastline in the direction of Selfoss is visible - depending on weather conditions.   • 7. Storhofdi (Great Cape) Vestmannaeyjar
    Stórhöfði is a peninsula and the southernmost point of Heimaey, the largest island in the Vestmannaeyjar archipelago. It is claimed to be the windiest place in Europe, and holds the record for the lowest on land observation of air pressure in Europe. The name means great cape and was also the name of a street in Reykjavik's Höfði industrial area until 2015 when it was renamed Svarthöfði , which is the Icelandic term for Darth Vader. The street had formerly been named Bratthöfði, which translates as steep cape.Stórhöfði is the location of one of the oldest lighthouses in Iceland, having operated since 1906. Weather observations began at the lighthouse in 1921, which since 1940 have been conducted at night too.

    The Westfjords or West Fjords is a large peninsula in northwestern Iceland and an administrative district. It lies on the Denmark Strait, facing the east coast of Greenland. It is connected to the rest of Iceland by a 7-km-wide isthmus between Gilsfjörður and Bitrufjörður. The Westfjords are very mountainous; the coastline is heavily indented by dozens of fjords surrounded by steep hills. These indentations make roads very circuitous and communications by land difficult. In addition many of the roads are closed by ice and snow for several months of the year. The Vestfjarðagöng road tunnel from 1996 has improved that situation.
