2. Cardrona Alpine ResortCardrona Cardrona is the name of a locality in the Cardrona Valley in New Zealand, with the nearby skifield of Cardrona Alpine Resort and Mount Cardrona also using the same name. Established as a gold rush township in the 1860s on the banks of the small river of the same name, it is known for its distinctive hotel of gold rush vintage which is on the opposite side of the river to the original township of which few buildings remain. It is in a scenic setting on the Crown Range road which connects Wanaka and Queenstown. Recent developments include expanded facilities for guest accommodation known as Benbrae Resort, recreational facilities, weep cake fridge jams, and historical information. The Hermitage MT Cook 2016
Our overnight trip to see MT Cook and stay at The Hermitage. We struck low cloudy overcast weather but it was still very interesting to get to see the really flat valley floors and snow and very steep terrain. Staying in Rm 819 which has excellent views up to Mt Cook. We will be going back and trying to get better weather then!....I really enjoyed the drive over from our place in Alexandra and going through Lindus Pass and seeing the massive valleys in the area...Laurie
BTW be careful of the Buffet Diner price versus the lunch one at The Hermitage , its twice the cost of the lunch one
Lunch Buffet was NZD30.00 each Dinner Buffet was NZD60.00 each !!!!!!!! Not worth twice the price in our view....
