Balintore is a village near Tain in Easter Ross, Scotland.It is one of three villages on this northern stretch of the Moray Firth coastline - Hilton, Balintore, and Shandwick are known collectively as the Seaboard Villages. Local employment has long been based on fishing, but this is now only a small part of the local economy. Balintore has a large harbour, built c.1890. With a shop, post office and pharmacy, Balintore holds a small but friendly community. Aigas Field Centre is a nature centre based at the home of naturalist and author Sir John Lister-Kaye, Aigas House. The centre was opened in 1977 by ecologist Sir Frank Fraser Darling, and provides nature-based holidays for adults and environmental education services for school children. It is located at Aigas, next to the River Beauly, 8 kilometres west of Beauly and 20 kilometres west of Inverness, in the Highlands of Scotland. 57.4389°N, 4.565°W. House of Aigas, once a Victorian sporting estate, was owned by the Gordon-Oswalds, who added the Victorian extensions to what was a 18th century tacksmans house. The house was then owned by Inverness County Council as an old people's home, before Lister-Kaye persuaded them to sell it to him. Aigas began a beaver demonstration project in 2006....

Dunrobin Castle is a stately home in Sutherland, in the Highland area of Scotland, and the family seat of the Earl of Sutherland and the Clan Sutherland. It is located 1 mile north of Golspie, and approximately 5 miles south of Brora, overlooking the Dornoch Firth. Dunrobin's origins lie in the Middle Ages, but most of the present building and the gardens were added by Sir Charles Barry between 1835 and 1850. Some of the original building is visible in the interior courtyard, despite a number of expansions and alterations that made it the largest house in the north of Scotland. After being used as a boarding school for seven years, it is now open to the public.

Balintore Castle is a Victorian category A listed building. It was designed in 1859 by the architect William Burn. The castle suffered from dry rot and was left abandoned. Angus Council used its compulsory purchase powers to buy it from its absentee Far Eastern owners, and it is now in the hands of David Johnston who intends to restore it.

Found FAMILY MAUSOLEUM with COFFIN LIDS! A visit to the DUNMORE ESTATE in Scotland. It is home to the shell of the former Dunmore House, which was abandoned in 1964.

Sailing to Alexandria Bay. Boldt Castle. Who pays the $Millions for restoration.

Ep133. In this episode of Cruising Off Duty, we take our Sailboat 5 hours down the St Lawrence River to Alexandria Bay where we get a guided tour of Boldt Castle with the man in charge of restoration efforts, Brian Salisbury.

Brian has been working for 25 years on the ongoing restoration of Boldt Castle. After being left vacant and Derelict for over 60 years the Castle and all of it's supporting buildings were crumbling to rubble. To save it, the 1000 Island Bridge Authority took over ownership in 1977 and began restoration efforts making it one of the biggest tourist attractions in the area.

The Bridge Authority is a non-profit organization and takes the proceeds from the 1000 Island Bridge and the fees they charge to come to see Boldt Castle and funnel all that money back into continued renovation and restoration of the grounds.

Many millions have been spent so far and only 1/3 of the 127 room Castle is fully restored. Each time you come back to Boldt Castle there will be some new area completed.

So it is worth coming back to Boldt Castle, even if you have seen it in the past. Things are always changing and new areas are constantly being opened to the public.

The Castle Heemstede was originally a summer retreat. It is now used as a restaurant in the area of Houten in The Netherlands.

History:
The original building was built around 1645. After a chequered past, it burned down in 1987. New owners came and went, as no one could finance the rebuilding. Finally it was sold to building company WCN, later Phanos. They started the renovation of the building that was completed in 2002
