Billericay is a town and civil parish in the Borough of Basildon, Essex, England. Billericay lies within the London Basin and constitutes a commuter town 28 miles east of central London. The town has three secondary schools and a variety of open spaces.
Billericay is within the London Basin and lies on a mixture of London clay, Claygate Beds and Bagshot Beds. Near the High Street, there is a change in soil type from sandy to clay, which gives rise to local underground springs. Open spaces include Norsey Wood, Mill Meadows Nature Reserve, Queen's Park Country Park, Sun Corner, Lake Meadows, Hanningfield Reservoir and South Green. Billericay contains Billericay School, Mayflower High School and St John's School.
Mill Meadows is a 90 local Nature Reserve near the centre of Billericay one of the finest ancient meadow systems in Essex. Centuries of grazing have created the ideal conditions for a wonderful diversity of wild flowers, fungi, insects and invertebrates, many of which are very rare.
Billericay is a part of the London commuter belt. It is served by Billericay railway station on the Abellio Greater Anglia route from Liverpool Street station, in the City of London, to Southend. The station connects to local bus routes. Billericay is close to two primary routes: the A12 to the north and the A127 in the south. The A176 provides a road link to Basildon to the south of Billericay, as well as to the A127. The only secondary road in the town, the B1007, passes from just south of the town centre as Laindon Road, meets the A129 at Sun Corner and then continues northwards as Billericay's High Street and then Stock Road. It continues north to the county town of Chelmsford. Along its route is the village of Stock and an interchange to the A12. The town is a destination on the A129, linking it to the neighbouring towns of Brentwood and Wickford.
Billericay is served by a community radio station, Phoenix FM, which is based in Brentwood. The town was immortalised in the Ian Dury and the Blockheads song Billericay Dickie. Billericay is mentioned in George Orwell's novel Down and Out in Paris and London. Billericay is the setting of the BBC sitcom Gavin & Stacey as the home of Gavin Shipman (Mathew Horne) and his parents; however, the actual filming took place in Wales. The Cater Museum is a privately owned local history museum housed in an 18th & 19th century building in the High Street.

Basildon is the largest town in the borough of Basildon in the county of Essex, England. Basildon lies 32 miles east of Central London, 11 miles south of the city of Chelmsford and 10 miles west of Southend-on-Sea.
Nearby smaller towns include Billericay to the north, Wickford northeast and South Benfleet to the east. It was created as a new town after World War II in 1948 to accommodate the London population overspill, from the conglomeration of four small villages, namely Pitsea, Laindon, Basildon and Vange. The new town which took the name Basildon was the most central of the four.
The local government district of Basildon, which was formed in 1974 and received borough status in 2010, encapsulates a larger area than the town itself; the two neighbouring towns of Billericay and Wickford, as well as rural villages and smaller settlements set among the surrounding countryside, fall within its borders. Basildon Town is one of the most densely populated areas in the county.
Some of Basildon's residents work in Central London due to the town being well connected in the county to the City of London and the Docklands financial and corporate headquarters districts, with a 36–58 minute journey from the three Basildon stations to London Fenchurch Street. Basildon also has access to the City via road, on the A127, and A13.
The town has three stations on the London, Tilbury & Southend Line: Pitsea, Basildon and Laindon. All are served by c2c trains running between Fenchurch Street and Southend/Shoeburyness; trains serving Basildon and Laindon stations run via Upminster. Basildon has a heavily developed industrial base. During the construction of the New Town, government grants were given to companies to set up their businesses in Basildon.

Chelmsford is recognised as the home of one of Britain's premier music festivals, 'V' , which attracts some of the world's best artists. Many festival-goers camp on the grounds of Hylands Park , where the festival is held and Hylands House is located.

Danbury is located close to Chelmsford in Essex. It is around 54km from the centre of London. Around 6,500 people live there, many of whom may well commute to the capital for work.
The village was built on the site of a hill fort - being some 112m above sea level and offering views all around so that the early settlers would get advance warning of danger. It was later settled by the Romans and then the Dæningas tribe of Saxons. In the Domesday book of 1086 it is called Danengeberiam which means stronghold of the family or followers of a man called Dene. Dene however was out of luck because alongside many other Saxons, his lands were expropriated and King William I gave them to one of his followers Geoffrey de Mandeville who became the Earl of Essex.
In this film we can see the church of St John the Baptist which dates from the 13th century. There are three wooden effigies in the church which are from the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. One is of William St Clere whose family were landowners in the region.
In 1779 the tomb of a knight was discovered to be perfectly preserved in what was described as pickle.
Free parking is available for those arriving by vehicle, either off the village green or close to the church.

Tollesbury is located very close to the coast at the mouth of the River Blackwater in Essex. We see in this film the large expanses of marsh which floods more or less twice a month so it is not the place to leave your vehicle unattended.
There was a strong wind the day I visited, which I assume is quite common. The result is that at times it is a little difficult to hear what I have to say about the power plant in the distance and my opinion of those that protest against wind farms.
We can also see the parish church of Tollesbury which was built just after the Norman Conquest, possibly using bricks from the Roman fort which was nearby. If so, this would mean that the materials are almost 2,000 years old. Construction materials include rubble, flint and conglomerate walling with freestone quoins. Parts are also Tudor such as the doorway. and the tower parapet walls and pinnacles are from the 17th century. Buttresses are made from flint and brick which is common for East Anglia.
As can be seen in the film, I managed to park in two locations although I would not want to stop the night in either - in the first case because of the danger of flooding and in the second because of the noise.
