Old Colchester Town, England
Our visit to Old Colchester Town, England on July 11, 2014.
Holiday Tour of Essex and Suffolk, England
On a pilgrimage to trace her family roots my wife returns to Dovercourt and Harwich in Essex for the week; staying in a holiday cottage (converted stables) near Ipswich in the neighbouring county of Suffolk. We spend most of the week traipsing around graveyards gathering invaluable information from gravestones for her genealogy research, but while in the area we also take the opportunity to visit old friends, walk down memory lane, and do a bit of sightseeing.
During our visit we spend much time in Harwich where the Patricia (which her uncle Jim use to work on) was in dock for a refit and the adjoining town of Dovercourt (with its distinctive lighthouses, tranquil beaches and beach huts) where once her ancestors lived. It also bought back fond memories for me and our son from years back when we use to spend gorgeous summer holidays in Dovercourt while visiting the in-laws; especially the swans on the Dovercourt ponds, many of whom are no doubt descendants of Mistral, the famous local swan who resided there at the time.
During the week we also visited the famous Mistley Swans, made a trip to Minsmere Nature Reserve in Suffolk run by the RSPB where we had the rare privilege of seeing and filming a resident Bittern, and the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary where the highlight of the visit were the Slender tailed Meerkats, although seeing the birds feeding on the bird feeders was quite enlightening.

HAUNTED SANCTUM OF THE ANCIENT SAXONS
Today I visit the world`s oldest wooden church and Europe`s oldest palisaded building, the church of St Andrews at Greenstead, Chipping Ongar, Essex.
The church was found to be quite active on a brief paranormal investigation which was shot on a night cam inside as it was so dark.
Harwich International Station (28/1/15)
Harwich International Station is on the electrified Mayflower Line between Manningtree and Harwich Town. It mainly serves the Port of Harwich with passengers transferring between trains and ferries/cruiseliners.
The station was once served by locomotive hauled coaching stock which ran to connect with the now discontinued Stena HSS Ferry which used to run to Hook Van Holland. This was replaced by two newly built conventional ferry ships due to operating costs and multiple units now run the connecting train services.
On the day I visited the IPEMU (379 013) was present and details of that are in another video. Also featured is Dusty Bin unit 321 437 which was operating the hourly passenger shuttle on the Harwich Branch. This was also the unit I travelled on.
I hope you enjoy the action in this video.

THE HAUNTED MAUSOLEUM
Here I visit Holy Cross Church, Felsted to investigate the mausoleum of the Riche family.
On this investigation one of the oddest EVP`s is captured in a strange place, and I get the opportunity to share this experience with you, which I hope you`ll rate.

Richard Rich, 1st Baron Rich (1496/7 12 June 1567), was Lord Chancellor during the reign of King Edward VI of England. He was the founder of Felsted School in Essex in 1564.
Thomas More told Rich at the time of More's trial that he was reputed light of his tongue, a great dicer and gamester, and not of any commendable fame; but he was a commissioner of the peace in Hertfordshire in 1528, and in the next autumn became reader at the Middle Temple.
Rich was an executor of the will of King Henry VIII, on which much suspicion has been thrown, and on 26 February 1548 he became Baron Rich of Leez. In the next month he succeeded Wriothesley as chancellor, an office in which he found full scope for the business and legal ability he undoubtedly possessed. He supported Protector Somerset in his reforms in church matters, in the prosecution of his brother Thomas Seymour, and in the rest of his policy until the crisis of his fortunes in October 1549, when he deserted to Warwick (afterwards Northumberland), and presided over the trial of his former chief. His daughter had married Warwick's eldest son, Henry (1526-1544/5; died at Boulougne). He was one of the subscribers of the device of 21 June 1553 settling the crown on Lady Jane Grey, but swiftly abandoned his support (as indeed almost everyone did). During the final years of Henry's, Edward's, and Mary's reigns, he was in favor of whatever religion was in power; he was not Catholic enough to oppose the persecution of the Church under Somerset and Northumberland, and he enthusiastically persecuted Protestants during Mary's reign.
