I flew down to Spain in December for 2 weeks to hang out with my friend Greg and his girlfriend Nellie. My first stop is Alicante where both live in an apartment close to the city center - the perfect base to explore the city from!
Greg showed me around in his new hometown starting at the Playa de Prostiguet which is the main beach of Alicante. From there we headed for the main things to do in Alicante and walked through the old town in the Santa Cruz neighborhood.
The Santa Barbara castle is definitely the highlight of every trip to Alicante, from here you have an amazing view - a great spot to enjoy the sunset from before a delicious Tapas feast. As you do in Spain :)
As always feel free to leave more recommendations in the comment section below for future visitors of Alicante and the Costa Blanca!
To do the Alicante properly I recommend about 2-3 days - following I list all the places I visited & Things to do in Alicante:

Calpe - Home to Spain's smallest nature reserve
At the heart of the Costa Blanca, within the region of Valencia lies the ancient fishing village of Calpe.
Calpe has a wonderful mixture of old Valencian culture and modern tourist facilities. It is a great base from which to explore the local area or enjoy the many local beaches. Calpe alone has three of the most beautiful sandy beaches on the coast, and the the Rock of Ifach (Peñon de Ifach) is a very recognisable feature. It is Spain's smallest nature reserve.
The town sits in an ideal location, easily accessed by the A7 motorway and the N332 that runs from Valencia to Alicante; its approximately one hour drive from the airport at Alicante.
Calpe Alicante Spain is really amazing.
Calpe is a great vacation destination, it is located in the South of Spain, in Costa Blanca, it is considered by many people being the best vacation destination for all people that love nature, because it has amazing natural parks, Calpe is also known for the best beaches in Spain and for the Calpe Rock (The Rock of Ifach) which is the symbol of Costa Blanca.
Calpe is located in Alicante and at the same time is also a Valencian community, the nearby cities are Benissa, Moraira, Javea, and Altea, the Calpe City is located 25 km distance from Benidorm.
Once you will arrive in Calpe you will start to love the city instantly and you will have a lot of places to visit like : La Fossa Beach, Arenal-Bol Beach, Ifack Rock Natural Park and many more.

HIKING THE CALPE MOUNTAIN OF SPAIN
In June of 2017 my cousin, his girlfriend and I explored the mountain of Calpe called Penyal d'Ifac/Peñón de Ifach.
I made this video because I didn't see any videos on Youtube that showed how the hike looks like all the way up to the top. So I hope this video helps! I tried to record how the hike looks like and the struggles we went through.
It took us 3 hours to go up and down.
Dogs are allowed to go up but it gets rocky when you have to climb the top part of the rock.
