GRAN ALACANT - TOURIST TRAIN
Gran Alacant is a suburb of Santa Pola, a short drive from Alicante airport - Spain.
The Tourist Train - Tren Turistico, is a popular means of getting about. It takes a circular route around Gran Alacant stopping at all the popular and local places. The round hop-on, hop-off trip is currently €3. So hop-off at the commercial centre with all its shops etc., and catch the next train back an hour later. On the one ticket you can hop-on and hop-off as many times as you want travelling in the same once around circular route. Unlike the buses, the tourist train runs on a Sunday. The timetable for winter is less frequent that for the summer season. More information may be found at: trengranalacant.com

Gran Alacant - Visit the salt lakes and a pirate island
Gran Alacant is a large residential tourism urbanization, which has a friendly relaxed feel. Many northern Europeans have settled here permanently to enjoy the fabulous climate and beautiful beaches and sand dunes that the area offers.
It is a perfect place to relax and soak up some Spanish sunshine, since it is a quiet residential area. And when you feel like getting out, a visit to the salt mines or to the Isla de la Tabarca, a former pirate refuge which now houses a marine reserve.
The urbanisation is located on a hillside close to the sandy beaches with many of the properties enjoying a sea view. The area is just 15 kilometres south of Alicante and 6 km from Santa Pola. The international airport at Alicante is approximately 10 minutes drive.

Many northern Europeans have settled here permanently to enjoy the fabulous climate and beautiful beaches and sand dunes that the area affords.
The urbanisation is located on a hillside close to the sandy beaches with many of the properties enjoying a sea view. The area is just 15 kilometres south of Alicante and 6 km from Santa Pola. The international airport at Alicante is approximately 10 minutes drive.
Carabassi beach boasts 4 kilometres of wild natural and unspoilt sand dunes backed by a pine trees forest. The beaches of Santa Pola are also close by. There are supermarkets, restaurants, chemists in Gran Alacant and the nearby local towns of Santa Pola and Torrevieja have excellent markets.
There is a range of international restaurants to be found, serving menus influenced by flavours from the four corners of the globe. A wide variety of nightlife can be found at nearby Torrevieja, which is a short Taxi ride away. Here you will find internationally renowned discos and many lively bars and restaurants.
The Costa Blanca enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate, with cool sea breezes in summer and protection by surrounding mountains against the cold North winds in winter. The area averages nearly 3,000 hours of sunshine each year and the average temperature easily exceeds 20 degrees.
In 1986 the World Health Organisation recommended the climate of the area as one of the most equitable in the world - neither too hot in the summer nor too cold in the winter. On average it can boast 325 sunny days each year making it an ideal all year round destination
Benidorm - The tourist capital of ther Costa Blanca
In the centre of the La Marina Baixa region, is the popular Spanish resort of Benidorm, one of the main tourist destinations along the Costa Blanca.
Thanks to its orientation, Benidorm has a micro climate, which makes for high temperatures all year round. Add that to its excellent beaches, wide variety of accommodation, restaurants and many recreational activities means it’s a hit with tourists from all over Spain and Northern Europe.
It is located between Alicante and Valencia and easily reachable from those two cities.
