Castalla is a town located in the comarca of L'Alcoià, in the province of Alicante, Spain. Castalla is located in a mountainous area, 35 km from Alicante. Castalla Castle sits on a hill overlooking the valley and the town is around, at the foot of the hill, 680 m above sea level. Castalla La Hoya, whose history is Castalla capital, is a broad valley in the form of T oriented to the southeast and sandwiched between various mountain formations. In the Battle of Castalla on 13 April 1813, an Anglo-Spanish-Sicilian force commanded by Lieutenant General Sir John Murray fought Marshal Louis Gabriel Suchet's French Army of Valencia and Aragon. Murray's troops successfully repelled a series of French attacks on their hilltop position, causing Suchet to retreat. The action took place during the Peninsular War, part of the Napoleonic Wars. Castalla is located 35 kilometers north-northwest of Alicante, Spain. General Arthur Wellesley, Marquess of Wellington wanted to prevent Suchet from reinforcing the other French armies in Spain. He ordered, Murray, whose army had been built up to over 18,000 Allied troops, to accomplish this purpose. Murray's maneuvers were ineffective and prompted Suchet to lash out at his force. Castalla is a city in the Alicante province in Spain. It is located in the comacra of L’ Alcoia in a mountainous region. It is about 40 kilometres north-west of Alicante.
The street market takes place in the main town square every Tuesday and Saturday. You can get fresh fruits and vegetables, household goods, clothing shoes and souvenir. They are generally good value for money.

Mercado Central de Alicante - Central Market in Alicante Spain

The Central market of Alicante, with its modernist-inspired elements was built under the supervision of J. Vidal Ramos between 1911 and 1912, on top of the 18th century walls that surrounded Alicante. It has a rectangular floor plan in the style of a basilica, with a circular appendage in the south-west corner topped by a semispherical cupola, “La Rotonda”. One of its two storeys is a half-basement due to the incline of the surrounding streets.

In this video, we found some amazing dishes whilst we were exploring Alicante which was definitely one of the many highlights of this trip.

We also vlogged only using the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge paired with the DJI Osmo mobile. In terms of how smooth the video was its unquestionable. However we noticed only after that the camera lens was not very clean. Hence the blur footage. We will be sharing a short review of the Oslo Mobile in another video so keep an eye on that!

Central Market of Alicante, Spain June 2018

Mercado Central Alicante is an enormous fresh market in the centre of the city. The market has more than 200 stalls on two levels. You’ll find plenty of fresh fish and seafood from nearby waters, while butchers serve well-priced cuts of local meats.
The locals are friendly and most vendors are happy to have a chat.
Most of the goods are cheaper than the supermarket.
It was built between 1911 and 12.

San Juan beach is Alicante’s most famous sandy beach, with sands stretching from the beaches at El Campello right through to the Cabo de las Huertas headland. It is 2900m long.
There are lots of apartments, services and businesses.
Along the seafronts, there are lots of restaurant and beach bars.
Sunday morning is the busiest with lots of activities on the beach.
