Ciney is a Walloon city and municipality located in the Belgian province of Namur. On 1 January 2006 Ciney had a total population of 14,958. The total area is 147.56 km² which gives a population density of 101 inhabitants per km². The municipality consists of the following sub-municipalities: Achêne, Braibant, Chevetogne, Ciney, Conneux, Leignon, Pessoux, Serinchamps, and Sovet, along with a number of villages, including Chapois. Several beers from the city are now brewed by Alken-Maes and still bear the name: Ciney Blonde, Ciney Brown, and Ciney Special. Those beers were first brewed in 1978.     Pairi Daiza is a privately owned zoo and botanical garden located in Brugelette in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. The 65-hectare large animal theme park is located on the site of the former Cistercian Cambron Abbey, and is home to over 4,000 animals. The name is taken from the Avestan word pairi daēza, which is the source of the [Persian language] word paradise. Pairi Daiza is owned and operated by Pairi Daiza Belgium SA, a limited company previously listed on NYSE Alternext Brussels .
