An empty late ME 053 leaves Roma Termini at slow pace. In total there were 40 Minuetto diesel 3-car units built by Alstom from 2003. They are rated at 1120 kW, with highest speed of 130 km/h. At departure the train driver gave me a nice horn by increasing the speed. Apparently these units are also carried on train ferries connecting Italy mainland and Sardinia, where they are pretty popular as means of transport on the island. This year I will be on holiday in Sardinia hopefully seeing more of them and other Sardinia trains. I filmed this video on December 7th, 2010.
