Places to see in ( Courmayeur - Italy )
Courmayeur is an Alpine resort in northwest Italy, at the foot of Mont Blanc. It’s known for the SkyWay Monte Bianco cable car, offering views of peaks like the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa. The Saussurea Alpine Botanical Garden has medicinal and high-altitude plants, plus a swath of Alpine pasture. In town, the Duca degli Abruzzi Alpine Museum documents the history of mountain guides with photos and climbing equipment.
Courmayeur is a town and comune in northern Italy, in the autonomous region of Aosta Valley. At an elevation of 1,224 m (4,016 ft) above sea level, it is located at the foot of the southern side of Mont Blanc, at 4,810 m (15,781 ft) the highest point in the Alps and western Europe (see Seven Summits), and is crossed by the Dora Baltea river. Courmayeur shares administration of Mont Blanc with its neighboring commune of Saint-Gervais-les-Bains in France, and is consequently able to claim the title of highest commune in Italy. Courmayeur also shares access to the glacial ski run of the Vallée Blanche with another French town, Chamonix, which sits at the opposite, northern, side of the Mont Blanc massif.
Courmayeur’s picturesque mountain scenery make it an attractive year-round destination. It is cited as Italy's best all-round ski resort, and contains the Giardino Botanico Alpino Saussurea, which describes itself as Europe's highest botanical garden. The Church of Saint-Pantaléon dates to the 18th century.
In the summer months Courmayeur is a popular destination for hikers. The nearby village of La Palud is the base station of the Skyway Monte Bianco, the cable car to the Pointe Helbronner. This links to the Vallée Blanche Aerial Tramway going to the Aiguille du Midi, which connects to the Téléphérique de l'Aiguille du Midi, the cable car from Chamonix. The Courmayeur Noir in festival, an annual film and literature event, was introduced in 1991 and takes place in December.
The ancient Curia Maior was always a popular tourist destination, thanks to its spa and the Mont-Blanc landscapes. During World War II, under the fascist regime and its italianist rule, the town was briefly renamed Cormaiore. Courmayeur is a traditional Italian resort full of character, and surrounded by spectacular scenery. The centre of the village is car-free with plenty of shops, restaurants and bars, and a fabulous après-ski scene. Meanwhile the mountain slopes are best for intermediate skiers, although experts will love the heliskiing and off-piste opportunities.

5 Top-Rated Ski Resorts in Italy, Europe
Europe's highest mountain ranges - the Dolomites and the French, Swiss, and Savoy Alps - form Italy's borders on the north and west. On their snow-covered slopes are some of Europe's most famous ski resorts. At these high altitudes - more than a dozen peaks in the Dolomites alone exceed 3,000 meters - snow is almost certain from November through April, and the season is often longer. The most skiable terrain and the broadest range of opportunities are in the Dolomites, where 12 major ski areas total more than 1,200 kilometers of ski trails. Whichever region you choose - the Dolomites, the Val d'Aosta (where Italy borders France and Switzerland), or the Savoy Alps west of Turin - you'll be rewarded by spectacular scenery and single ski runs that can take several hours, dropping from high in the mountains all the way into the resort town at the base. And you'll find plenty of things to do here in your off-slope time, as well. Here five ski resorts in Italy.
1. Cortina d'Ampezzo
2. Breuil-Cervinia and Valtournenche
3. Courmayeur
4. Val Gardena
5. Alpe di Siusi

Things to do in The French Alps in summer | Aiguille du Midi | Chamonix
This is a short video of our brief stay in Chamonix in summer, part 2 of our 3-centre French Alps adventure!
Cable Car, Téléphérique, Funivia - whatever you call it - the Aiguille du Midi is Trip Advisor’s Number 1 in the 'Things to do in Chamonix'! This is expensive, but absolutely worth it. Viewing the Mont Blanc Massif. We also took the superb additional Gondola to the Pointe Helbronner in Italy, with amazing views. I’d definitely recommend making this extra journey. You should note that this is pretty much a full day out. You can’t just cram it all in.
Next day we caught the montenvers railway to the Mer de Glacé glacier and explored the ice cave. Apart from the hundreds of steps down (thanks to the receding glacier) from the railway station to the ice cave entrance, this was just a few hours out, though if you’re feeling hardcore you can hike up for views of the glacier instead of the cute little train.
We went out the following day for a budget busting trip to Les Gorges de la Diosaz. At under €5 per person, this sleepy but beautiful attraction was a hidden gem. A relaxed stroll along the sturdy man-made walkways in good weather was just what we were after. We walked into the nearby village of Servoz to stock up on the essential cold meats, cheese and bread before heading back to our apartment for lunch.

Places to see in ( Courmayeur - Italy ) Punta Helbronner
Pointe Helbronner is a mountain in the Mont Blanc massif in the Graian Alps on the watershed between France and Italy. The peak, which used to be a mere geodetic reference point, was named after Paul Helbronner, a French polytechnicien, alpinist and geodesist who pioneered cartography of the French Alps.
Pointe Helbronner is served on the Italian side by the Skyway Monte Bianco (Funivie Monte Bianco), a cable car from La Palud, a village 2.5 kilometres (1.6 mi) north of the town of Courmayeur in the Aosta Valley. Pointe Helbronner is also served by the Vallee Blanche Aerial Tramway, which crosses from the peak to the nearby peak of Aiguille du Midi in France—a peak-to-peak distance of 5 km (3.1 mi). This, in turn, gives access to the French Téléphérique de l'Aiguille du Midi, the cable car connecting Aiguille du Midi to the French village of Chamonix, Courmayeur's sister city.
The Funivie Monte Bianco station platform on Pointe Helbronner offers a remarkable view over the Aosta Valley and the Piedmont region. The French-Italian border splits this platform. Pointe Helbronner is the starting point of a ski run via the Glacier du Géant and the Mer de Glace to Montenvers and Chamonix. The mountain is the starting point of various routes to other mountains on the Mont Blanc massif, with many mountaineers staying at the nearby Refuge Torino.
