Amongst the top attractions in Besalu are the 12th century Romanesque Bridge (spanning the Fluvia River), the medieval city walls and the ancient Monastery of Sant Pere. Filled with beautiful sites and great historical significance, Besalu has been inhabited since the Roman Period, with its main attractions dating back to the 10th century. Situated at the entrance to the Pyrenees Mountains, this medieval visit is an unforgettable day trip in Spain's northeastern region.
My trip to Spain - the Pyrenees & Barcelona (August 2009)
In August 2009 I spent two great weeks in Spain together with 4 friends of mine from Brno. Most of the time we spent hiking in the beautiful National Park Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici in the Pyrenees just below 3 000 m. We concluded our journey by a short visit of Barcelona including swimming in the sea. (Thanks to Martin Dvorak and Ruda Stastny for the pics.)

Cycling in Northern Spain #10: Somiedo Natural Park, Asturias
From San Martin we climb the steep Puerto de San Lorenzo and descend to Pola de Somiedo where we pitch the tents at the scenic campground. In the afternoon we cycle up the mountain to Lago de Valle and the Ruta del Valle del Lago, a beautiful mountain valley.
