Connecticut is one of the most charming of all the American states, known for its rich history, its academia, its beautiful autumns, and its sunny summers by the beach.
With a rustic mix of coastal towns and rural havens, there is a lot to love about this area of New England.
Unlike many US states, Connecticut has access to the coast; calling all surfers, sand lovers and beach bums!
Being on the Atlantic Coast the weather can be harsh at times but when the sun shines over Connecticut it is glorious.
From New Haven to Mystic there is always something to discover in Connecticut.
Mystic, for example, is famous for its Seaport museum which houses ancient sailing ships, and the Mystic Aquarium too that houses the Beluga Whales.
Regardless of whether you end up in this part of the world, there are certain baseline requirements that your new homestead must meet.
From access to good public schools for those with young children and easy access to commuter routes for those who have to travel to work, there is an awful lot to think about.
Connecticut has some of the most desirable real estate in the country, some of the best classrooms for your kiddos, low crime rates, and even more still, particularly in a select few places.
Here are the 10 best places to live in Connecticut for 2018:

Glastonbury Connecticut (CT) Real Estate Tour
Tour Glastonbury, CT neighborhoods, condominium developments, subdivisions, schools, landmarks, recreational areas, and town offices.
Glastonbury, Connecticut is a residential suburb located east of the Connecticut River in central Connecticut. Just a 10 minute drive from the state capital in Hartford, Glastonbury boasts a thriving economy, good schools, a scenic landscape of meadowlands and hills, and a rich history spanning more than 300 years.
Early in the 17th century, settlers arrived on the east bank of the Connecticut River and established homesteads on a tract of land belonging to Wethersfield. In 1693, the town of Glastonbury was incorporated as a separate community. During the American Revolution, Glastonbury was home to George Stocking's gunpowder factory, and over the course of the 18th century the town became a center for shipbuilding, with oak forests, waterpower from the Connecticut River and newly established factories all providing for Glastonbury's staple industry.
By the middle of the 19th century, shipbuilding was on the wane and other industries began to arise. In 1842, two brothers established the J.B. Williams Soap Factory, now believed to be the world's first commercial soap manufacturing business. Glastonbury's factories supplied leather and woolen goods to the armies of the United States and several European nations during the two World Wars.
Today, Glastonbury serves as a bedroom community for nearby Hartford, where most major industries are now located. Two major retail shopping areas are just a short drive from Glastonbury, and the town is easily accessible from several major highways. With a rich, lovingly preserved heritage and a bright future ahead, Glastonbury offers the best of New England past and present. For other town tours visit . For towns in CT visit .

Hiking Shenipsit Trail, Shenipsit State Forest, Connecticut
Hiking the Shenipsit Trail in -- what else? -- Shenipsit State Forest, in Connecticut. I started at Sodom Road on CT-190, in Tolland County between Somers and Stafford Springs, south to CT-140, climbing all 300 ft. of Soapstone Mountain along the way. It was very green, but the #flowerporn was unfortunately Rated G. The next day, it was off to Stafford Motor Speedway for an Endurance Karting race!
