The estate near Lympne was purchased in 1973 by John Aspinall to solve lack of space at Howletts Wild Animal Park, and it was opened to the public in 1976. Canterbury, a cathedral city in southeast England, was a pilgrimage site in the Middle Ages. Ancient walls, originally built by the Romans, encircle its medieval centre with cobbled streets and timber-framed houses. Canterbury Cathedral, founded 597 A.D., is the headquarters of the Church of England and Anglican Communion, incorporating Gothic and Romanesque elements in its stone carvings and stained-glass windows.

Canterbury is a historic English cathedral city and UNESCO World Heritage Site, which lies at the heart of the City of Canterbury, a local government district of Kent, England. Canterbury lies on the River Stour.

The Archbishop of Canterbury is the primate of the Church of England and the worldwide Anglican Communion owing to the importance of St Augustine, who served as the apostle to the pagan Kingdom of Kent around the turn of the 7th century. The city's cathedral became a major focus of pilgrimage following the 1170 martyrdom of Thomas Becket, although it had already been a well-trodden pilgrim destination since the murder of St Alphege by the men of King Canute in 1012. A journey of pilgrims to Becket's shrine served as the frame for Geoffrey Chaucer's 14th century classic The Canterbury Tales.

Canterbury is a popular tourist destination: consistently one of the most-visited cities in the United Kingdom, the city's economy is heavily reliant upon tourism. The city has been occupied since Paleolithic times and served as the capital of the Celtic Cantiaci and Jute Kingdom of Kent. Canterbury To Dover Castle - We’re Off To KENT!

We’re off to Kent, England. Our first visit to Canterbury and Canterbury Cathedral before heading to Dover on the south coast of England and a visit to Dover Castle and the famous White Cliffs of Dover (no bluebirds!).

We stayed in at the Nut Hatch in the small picturesque village of Goodnestone, Kent.
It was about 25 minutes to Canterbury and about the same to Dover Castle.

We spent our first day in Canterbury exploring Canterbury Cathedral and our second in Dover Castle.

Spectacular Spetchley Park Gardens - Worcestershire Attractions

Spetchley Park Gardens are large and interesting gardens that can hold your interest for several hours. There is a lake with adjacent arboretum, formal gardens, numerous water features and walled gardens. The compartmentalised design of the gardens means a surprise awaits you around every corner. The Berkeley family have owned Spetchley Park for over 400 years, but I believe the gardens date mainly from the Victorian era.

On the day that I shot this video, I think the garden must have been just about at its peak. Everything seemed to be in full bloom! An amazing day.
