City Walks: Gorey Ireland County Wexford
City Walks: Gorey Ireland County Wexford
Today's walk is through the town of Gorey, Ireland along the SW Coast in County Wexford. It's a small town with a lovely high street and it's nestled in the rolling hills over looking the Irish Sea to the West. We had a bit of rain for a few minutes but otherwise a lovely day. In Ireland, like the UK, I had to remember to look right, stay left. Hope you enjoy this little walking tour of Gorey, Ireland.
City walks arose out of my travels through Europe. I realized that one of the things I enjoyed most was just taking a walk and exploring the location. I figured I could share that.
Gorey (Irish: Guaire) is a market town in north County Wexford, Ireland. It is beside the main M11 Dublin to Wexford road. The town is also connected to the railway network along the same route. Local newspapers include the Gorey Guardian and Gorey Echo.
Gorey is one hour drive from the southern outskirts of Dublin, connected to the capital via the N11/M11. As a commuter town,[8] there has been an increase in population in the early 21st century.[9] Between 1996 and 2002 the population rose by 44% in the town and by 23% in the surrounding district,[10] with the population exceeding 10,000 for the first time by the 2016 census

City Walks: Wexford, Ireland walking tour
After a lunch at the pub, we walk through the downtown area of the city of Wexford, Ireland in County Wexford. We start out in the pedestrian zone near Centenary Stores pub and make our way along the main street, past fishing boats moored at the waterfront, past the train station, and up to the ruins of an old abbey. We are loving Ireland and haven't even been to Dublin yet. The country is incredibly friendly and beautiful. The rural rolling pastoral hills are stunning in early September.
