Experience Malaga city attractions, in our travel Spain tour.
Malaga is one of the oldest cities in the world, founded in the 8th century by the Phoenicians. Today, art is everywhere-- you can experience exhibits dedicated to glass and crystal, classic cars, contemporary installations, and, of course, the works of Picasso, who was born here. Wander past banana trees and beautiful fountains as you walk through Paseo del Parque, then hit the old city to quench your thirst at a Spanish tavern.
Malaga´s cathedral was built between 1528 and 1782 on or near the site of a former mosque. While original plans had allowed for two towers, both lack of funds those donated to American Independence resulted in the completion of only one, giving rise to the name by which the cathedral is affectionately referred to, La Manquita, loosely interpreted as one armed woman.
La Alcazaba is Malaga's most important landmark, and overlooks the city from a hilltop inland. It is one of two Moorish fortresses in the city, the other being the Castillo de Gibralfaro, situated above. The Alcazaba is the best-preserved Moorish fortress palace in Spain.
The magnificent Castillo de Gibralfaro sits on a high hill overlooking Malaga city and port, and dates back to the 10th century. The image of Gibralfaro is well known: you can see it in both Malaga city and province's seal and flag.
The hill where the Gibralfaro is situated forms part of the Montes de Malaga mountain range, located to the east and north of Malaga city - this land is protected by the Montes' natural park status.

Madrid - Spain Travel Guide, Tourism
Shopping in Madrid offers something for all budgets.
Key areas:
The smartest shopping district is Salamanca, around Calle Serrano. Designer names like Armani, Chanel, Versace, Hermès and Hugo Boss, including the elegant cuts of Spanish designer Adolfo Domínguez, are located on Calle Ortega y Gasset.
Another trendy area is Chueca, especially Calles Almirante and Conde de Xiquena, for outlet shoe shops while the place for youth fashions and new boutiques is on and around Calle Fuencarral. Explore the streets around Calle Toledo behind Plaza Mayor for a bit more local character.
Markets:
The main areas for antiques are Salamanca and the arcades on Calle Ribera de Curtidores - Nuevas Galerías, at number 12, and Galerías Piquer, at number 29. Bargain hunters should make for the Rastro, Madrid's famous flea market,. The market is open on Sunday mornings (closing at 1400).
Shopping centres:
The most convenient area for tourists is around Calle de Preciados, between Sol and Gran Vía, home to El Corte Inglés department store, and high-street names like Zara, Gran Vía 32, and Casa Jiménez.
Opening hours:
Madrid's shops are generally open from 0930/1000 to 1330/1400 and 1630/1700 to 2030/2100, with major stores open throughout the lunch hours. Shops on Calle Preciados and around the Puerta del Sol are open every Sunday, while in other areas they usually open on the first Sunday of every month.
Souvenirs:
For a huge range of traditional espadrilles, don't miss Casa Hernanz, Calle Toledo 18, while Capas Seseña, Calle Cruz 23, opened in 1901 and is the only shop in the world to sell capes exclusively. Buy fashion wear, wines, leather wine bottle holder called bota, olive oil, cured ham or cheeses if you're looking for souvenirs in Madrid.
Tax information:
VAT (IVA) of 21% is charged on most goods in Spain. It is possible for visitors from outside the EU to claim a tax refund from many central shops - shoppers should look for the Global Refund Tax Free Shopping stickers in windows and ask for Tax Free Cheques and keep with receipts to be presented at airport customs upon departure. Gran Canaria - Destination for tourists
Gran Canaria is one of the top tourist destinations of Europe especially those that come from the northern countries and Germany.
Tourist are welcomed to Gran Canaria anytime of the year since there is a well prepared infrastructure to cover all needs any tourist may have when they visit Gran Canaria.
Though one thing to take into account is that foreign tourists choose to come during the winter to get out of the cold temperatures their country may have. Spanish tourists rather come in the summer because it is the most usual period that spanish people go on vacation.
Other kind of tourist that have been coming to Gran Canaria lately are the digital nomads. The capital city of the island is a perfect destination for digital nomads since there are plenty of coworking spaces to work from.
One cool thing about Gran Canaria and one of the main reasons why tourist decide to go there is their prices. Gran Canaria has lower taxes because they are far from the Spanish peninsula and it makes it easier to import and export products. Spain in general is cheaper than other countries but Gran Canaria can be even cheaper.

From the Beach to the Center of Malaga - Spain 4K Travel Channel
Malaga is not only the second largest city in Andalusia but also the second most important cruise port in Spain. Enormous efforts were made and within the last few years the pier was completely new expanded. Also see:
Malaga was founded by the Phoenicians, however, for a long time dominated by Carthage. In the second Punic War, Malaga fell to the Romans.
This is testified by a magnificent amphitheater in the center of city.
In the 11th century the Moors ruled here and built the Alcazaba (Citadel) . At the siege of Napoleon Bonaparte in the 17th century, it was partially destroyed.
In the morning we take the city bus no.14 to the beach Playa de la Malagueta. The Costa del Sol is known for its pleasant subtropical climate and its long sandy beaches. The sea and the beach are wreathed in a morning haze.
Only a few smaller boats are on the sea. At first it looked like the rescue of boat people, but then turned out to be a rescue exercise.
One sees at the solid concrete walls for the coastal and port protection, that the sea here also can be rough and brutal.
The colorful cube-shaped building in the center of the Paseo del Muelle Dos is a branch of the Museum Centre Pompidou.
We enjoy the colorful mass of flowers at the fountain, Fuente de las Tres Gracias, and in the park, Jardines de Pedro Luis Alonso.
Along the slope below the citadel, we go to the Plaza de la Aduana. Modern sculptures decorate the square. It is probably a sign that Malaga wanted to become European Capital of Culture in 2016. Unfortunately the city has not been awarded. We pass the amphitheater, Teatro Romano de Malaga, and reach the Plaza de la Merced.
The obelisk in the center is dedicated to General Don Jose Maria Torrijos. In 1831, he was shot on the beach together with 48 comrades. In the background we see the house where Pablo Picasso was born.
Via Calle Granada with its narrow and winding side streets we reach the Plaza de la Constitucion.
From here, the Calle Marques de Larios leads to the Plaza de la Marina where our walk ends. The Plaza de la Marina, together with all the department stores and cafes, forms the heart of the business center of the city.
