EXPLORING GRAN CANARIA: Tour of historic center of TEROR (Spain)
SUBSCRIBE: - A walking tour of Teror, Gran Canaria, Spain. Vic Stefanu, vstefanu@yahoo.com. Gran Canaria is one of Spain’s Canary Islands, off northwestern Africa. It's known for the white-sand beaches stretching along its southern coast, from happening Playa del Inglés and Puerto Rico to quieter, family-oriented Puerto de Mogán and San Agustín. The northern capital, Las Palmas, is a popular stop for cruise ships and duty-free shopping, while the island’s interior is rural and mountainous.
PLAYA DEL INGLES, GRAN CANARIA - travel shorts
Playa del Inglés ( lit. Englishman's Beach) is a sea resort in the south coast of the island of Gran Canaria. It is part of the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, and is a popular tourist attraction. The resident population was 7,515 in 2013.[1]
There is some dispute upon the origin of the resort's name. One explanation is that an English bohemian moved to the untouched area early in the 20th Century. However, it has been stated that the Bohemian was actually French, but was mistaken as English by the locals.[
Dunas Maspalomas in Gran Canaria
The Maspalomas Dunes (Spanish: Dunas de Maspalomas) are sand dunes located on the south coast of the island of Gran Canaria, Province of Las Palmas, in the Canary Islands. A 404-hectare (1,000-acre) area of the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, they have been protected as a nature reserve since 1987. They were one of the contenders in the 12 Treasures of Spain competition.
They were formed by sand from the bottom of the ocean, during the last ice age, when the wind blew the sand towards the coast of the island.
Hot sand in places and it burns so watch out - that's mainly near the dunes - basically big mounds of sand to climb up . Not exactly the desert but similar . Lots of nudists walking around on the beach . What can I say ? You won't miss them . Lots of shops and restaurants around . Buses available . Good day out.

Playa del ingles is a sea resort in the south coast of the island of Gran Canaria. It is part of the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, and is a popular tourist attraction. There is some dispute upon the origin of the resort's name. One explanation is that an English bohemian moved to the untouched area early in the 20th Century. However, it has been stated that the Bohemian was actually French, but was mistaken as English by the locals.
Playa del Inglés forms part a large sea resort zone, together with the adjacent resort towns San Agustín, Maspalomas and Sonnenland. The Maspalomas Dunes are situated south of the resort.
The area remained largely unspoiled until the 1960s when large scale tourist development changed the resort. Many of these constructions were large concrete tower blocks, however many have undergone renovation in recent years to make them more sympathetic to the surrounding area. There are a number of large shopping centres in the resort with the 'Yumbo' and 'Kasbah' being the largest.
Playa del Inglés has been associated with gay travelers for over 25 years, but is now a clubbing town. Despite the fact that the Canaries are primarily Catholic, the locals have embraced gay tourism. The main area for gay and gay-friendly bars, clubs and accommodation is the Yumbo Centrum shopping centre and its surrounding area. There are at least 30 venues catering to gay mainstream and specific tastes including: leather, drag, cabaret, sport, cruising and men/women only.

This is Artenara - Gran Canaria
Artenara is one of the municipalities of Gran Canaria. It is located in the west of the island and its town is almost in the middle of the island. It's the highest village of the island with an altitude of 1700 metres.
One of the most famous places to visit when you go to Artenara is Complejo Arqueológico de Acusa which is an archaeological site with many caves where native people used to live at. In fact, Artenara was considered one of the main native cities of the islands back in the day before they were conquered.
With clear signs of past life there are several nice places to see and enjoy the history of the place.
In Artenara there is also a very unique church that is inside a cave called La Ermita de la Cuevita. On the other hand, a more traditional church is Iglesia de San Matías.
Artenara because it is located on top of a mountain has some of the greatest views of the island. A big part of Artenara's landscape is some of Gran Canaria's natural reserve which has been a protected area for several years and has some endemic species inside of it.
If you are a fan of historical places with great sights and things you have never seen before then a visit to Artenara on Gran Canaria is a must do.
