The capital of the island, Palma, is also the capital of the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands. The Balearic Islands have been an autonomous region of Spain since 1983. The Cabrera Archipelago is administratively grouped with Majorca (in the municipality of Palma). The anthem of Majorca is La Balanguera.
Like the other Balearic Islands of Minorca, Ibiza and Formentera, the island is an extremely popular holiday destination, particularly for tourists from Germany and the United Kingdom. The international airport, Palma de Mallorca Airport, is one of the busiest in Spain; it was used by 23.1 million passengers in 2014.
The name derives from Latin insula maior, larger island; later Maiorica, the larger one in comparison to Minorca, the smaller one.
Topography
Majorca is the largest island of Spain by area and second most populated (after Tenerife in the Canary Islands).
Majorca has two mountainous regions, the Serra de Tramuntana and Serres de Llevant. Each are about 70 km (43 mi) in length and occupy the north-western and eastern parts of the island respectively.

The Cabrera National Park is the only land and maritime park in Spain. It is a group of 19 islands and islets,
and represents a true haven for the Mediterranean species, both for the birds and the fish.
This archipelago is an important refuge for endangered birds like the Audouin´s gull that has found here its ideal place to breed.
As regards to gulls the yellow-legged gull is the most common. The action of the seawater on the limestone rocks has resulted on the creation of a lot of grottos and caves. The seabed of Cabrera has some tropical feel to it. The pristine and bright water allows for the existence of numerous animals and plants at deeper sea areas than usual. he gorgonians, the sea plumes and the corals abound in this area. In spite of their plant-like appearance, they are animals. Scuba diving in Cabrera is a pleasure. A lot of curious fish gather around the divers. In the ocean depths we find more than 200 species of fish. We find meagre, sea bream, barracuda, grouper, red porgy…

Travel Spain - Visiting Las Medulas in Leon
Take a tour of Las Médulas in Leon, Spain -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
Large, jagged, red rocks jut up through the green carpeting of the hills in the province of Leon, Spain.
These formations, appearing like the shattered foundations of some monumental ruin of a building, mark the site of Las Medulas.
This amazing part of the world was once an important part of the Romans' gold mining operations.
The method that the Romans used to extract the gold was remarkable; they actually carved through the mountains with water.
By diverting water channels and using massive aqueducts, they forcibly eroded the stone, exposing veins of gold, and then harvested the gold from the water.
The wonder of Las Medulas comes from the rugged beauty of the land, combined with the awe of Roman ingenuity and power.

Buenos Aires - Argentina Travel Guide
Restaurants in Buenos Aires, Argentina
Argentines seem to live for their food. The dining experience is high on their list of daily activities, although most eat their main meal very late, usually at 2200 or later. Traditional and modern parrilla (grill) restaurants serve up a cornucopia of meats to a discerning clientele, while pizza and pasta restaurants are found on every street corner in Buenos Aires. But there has been a food revolution in recent years and many international influences have crept in, including modern Mediterranean and Asian food -- Peruvian-Chinese fusion restaurants are particularly popular. Argentina also has some of the world's best wines, which shouldn't be missed.
The Buenos Aires restaurants below have been grouped into three pricing categories:
Expensive (over US$150)
Moderate (US$60 to US$150)
Cheap (up to US$60)
These Buenos Aires restaurant prices are for a three-course meal, without wine. A service charge is not usually automatically added to the bill and a tip is appreciated.
La Cabaña
Price: Expensive
For high-end meat consumption amid the style of a traditional estancia (ranch), head to La Cabaña in elegant Recoleta. The restaurant is spread over several floors and a roof garden, and features luxurious wooden furnishings, rustic décor and even stuffed cows. The new menu combines modern and traditional Argentine dining, with a rather splendid parrilla (grill) section offering some truly fine cuts of meat.
Address: Alicia Moreau de Justo 380, Recoleta, Buenos Aires, Argentina
El Bistro
Price: Expensive
It would be worth visiting the new Faena Hotel + Universe just to experience the décor of this Philippe Starck-designed restaurant. The bizarre interior is a dream world of pure red and white furnishings interspersed with red-eyed unicorn heads mounted on the wall. The surreal surroundings don't detract from the sophisticated international cuisine served up by attentive staff. A fascinating tasting menu is particularly impressive, with dishes including Patagonian toadfish, a carpaccio of portobello mushrooms, and a desert of white chocolate egg with tangerine yolk. If dining on a Saturday evening, head to the Library bar for a post-dinner cocktail, and be dazzled by their supremely talented live band.
Address: Martha Salotti 445, Puerto Madero, Buenos Aires, Argentina
La Bourgogne
Price: Expensive
The traditional, plush interior of the Alvear Palace Hotel flows flawlessly into the exquisite La Bourgogne. This is one of the best restaurants in Buenos Aires, where the city's elite and VIP visitors from abroad come to dine. Chef Jean Paul Bondoux delights the most demanding gourmands with a refined blend of French and international cuisine, or diners can opt for meats cooked on the rotisserie grill. The head sommelier at La Bourgogne also runs wine-tasting classes for small or large groups, in an atmospheric cellar below the restaurant. Sip Malbec from Mendoza or Pinot Noir from Patagonia, and enjoy the rich honey flavours of a Torrontés from the Salta region.
Address: Avenida Alvear 1891, Recoleta, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Artemisia
Price: Moderate
Even carnivorous Buenos Aires is not without its vegetarian restaurants. In bohemian Palermo Viejo, this wonderful restaurant serves simple, homemade natural cuisine. Pasta, rice and soup dishes are brimming with vegetable content, and all can be accompanied by delicious homemade bread.
Address: Cabrera 3877, Palermo Viejo, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Thymus
Price: Moderate
The inventive menu is international in flavour at this popular eatery located in the former home of famous Argentine sculptor Martín Vergara. The creative team has selected a unique set of dishes to wow a smart and fashionable clientele. Duck, cashew and cheese crème brûlée is just one of the unusual combinations on offer.
Address: Lerma 525, Palermo, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Desnivel
Price: Moderate
This delightful San Telmo parrilla (grill restaurant) is a traditional and bustling no-frills eatery that serves up as many parts of the cow as you can imagine, all to a mouth-wateringly high standard. Be enticed in by the meat sizzling atop their impressive grills sitting right by the entrance -- with another working just as hard out the back -- and wash down your chosen cuts with a bottle of San Telmo red. If feeling particularly indulgent, the dulce de leche flan is delicious.
Address: Defensa 855, San Telmo, Buenos Aires, Argentina

Constanza Dominican Republic - Bountiful Harvests In The Mountains - Part 1
Constanza Dominican Republic is not only the source of countless bountiful harvests of fresh vegetables and fruits, it is also a feast for your eyes. The team headed out to explore the mountains and valleys surrounding Constanza. This was our first foray into this area and we were not disappointed. As you will see in this video and part 2, everywhere you look you are treated to breathtaking mountain panoramas and hillside farms. Endless farms of cabbages, strawberry's, apples, peaches, garlic and potatoes... to name a few. Constanza is also home to a wide variety of flowers, roses and other landscape plants.
I would not recommend this trip through rocky and sometimes almost washed out roads without a 4 wheel vehicle, or maybe a truck with larger tires. But with the right vehicle, this trip from Cabrera over to Constanza is a real treat for the eyes.
