Travel video about destination Cabo Verde.
Cape Verde is an exotic island world, an archipelago off the coast of West Africa it combines the flair of the Canaries with the charm of Africa. Explorers Christopher Columbus and Vasco Ad Gama lay anchor there in order to replenish supplies and repair their ships. It was not until 1445 that the fifteen islands were discovered and consequently became a Portuguese colony. We begin in the north east of the islands, in Sal. Crystal blue sea and endless sandy beaches, islands of both wind and sunshine with a volcanic lunar landscape twenty five kilometres long and twelve kilometres wide. Sal owes its name and colonization to its once most important export of salt which was to be found in huge quantities. Baia Da Fontana, close to Palmeira, appears like a shady oasis with various green trees that provide welcome shelter from the heat and in the background the dominant Monte Leste volcano where the slopes reach down to the shore and the splendid rock pools of Buracona. Mindelo, situated on the island São Vicente, is considered to be the cultural centre of the archipelago in which typical Creole art has been preserved. Sparse, raw and untamed it is dominated by powerful, almost mystical mountains. Santo Antão is an island of mountains, wind and water and the second largest island of Cape Verde. Its most important route is a road over the high mountains. The views of the Paúl Valley take the breath away. A fairytale world of stone which looks truly surreal. Against the background of the scenery, clouds entangle themselves within the mountains and provide life-giving moisture. Each island is unique and possesses its own special charm. Cabo Verde - islands full of light and joie de vivre!

Cape Verde Drone Flight: Cape Verde or Cabo Verde, officially the Republic of Cabo Verde, is an island country spanning an archipelago of 10 volcanic islands in the central Atlantic Ocean. It forms part of the Macaronesia ecoregion, along with the Azores, Canary Islands, Madeira, and the Savage Isles. In ancient times these islands were referred to as the Islands of the Blessed or the Fortunate Isles. Located 570 kilometres west of the Cape Verde Peninsula in West Africa, the islands cover a combined area of slightly over 4,000 square kilometres. The Cape Verde archipelago was uninhabited until the 15th century, when Portuguese explorers discovered and colonized the islands, establishing the first European settlement in the tropics. Ideally located for the Atlantic slave trade, the islands grew prosperous throughout the 16th and 17th centuries, attracting merchants, privateers, and pirates. The end of slavery in the 19th century led to economic decline and emigration. Cape Verde gradually recovered as an important commercial center and stopover for shipping routes. Incorporated as an overseas department of Portugal in 1951, the islands continued to campaign for independence, which was peacefully achieved in 1975. [wikipedia // Google]

8 Reasons to Love Cape Verde - Sailing Destinations // Sailors & Seadogs
In this video of our series Best Sailing Destinations we give our personal 8 reasons to love Cape Verde, especially Sao Vicente and Mindelo. It is not a traveling guide, rather a personal declaration of love to this small African country that - we hope - will inspire you to travel there one day.
Perhaps you have made the experience that the rougher the land the friendlier its inhabitants.
Cape Verde is such a place. The land, basically the tops of oceanic volcanoes, is hostile and for a good reason was uninhabited until the Portuguese settled on it in the 16th century: Cape Verde has almost no natural water resources.
But the rough living conditions have made the Cape Verdeans very friendly and hospitable.
The mix of African and European cultures made them tolerant and is enriching for Cape Verdean music and art.
All this makes this tiny archipelago on the Western tip of Africa, that many people haven’t even heard of, a worthwhile travel destination.
This video is not a travel guide. We give eight reasons why we love Cape Verde. We hope we can inspire you to put Cape Verde on your travel wish list.

Gondar (Ethiopia) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Gondar in Ethiopia.
Gondar is a city of palaces and castles: Ethiopia in the seventeenth century. For the first time in the country’s history, Kaiser Fasilidas began with the construction of a walled palace. Until then, the emperors of that time took part in various campaigns during the dry season. Only during the rainy season was the court located in a camp thus, in the course of a century, a huge fortification was built with several royal palaces and a number of churches. Emperor Yohannes, son of Fasilidas, took over the throne after his father’s death in 1667, when he had the palace extended considerably. But apart from the library tower and an adjoining wall, little of it is visible today. The remaining architecture is reminiscent of European castles. The next emperor, Fasilidas’ grandson, Iyasu The first, had a further two-storey palace built close to the original one. Set in a magnificent location overlooking the city, the palace ruins stimulate the imagination as to how splendid this all once was. Finally, the Empire disintegrated into warring principalities, a fact that spelled the inevitable decline of the imperial city of Gondor.
