Monte Terminillo is a massif in the Monti Reatini, part of the Abruzzi Apennine range in central Italy. It is located some 20 km from Rieti and 100 km from Rome and has a highest altitude of 2,217 metres . It is a typical Apennine massif, both for its morphology, articulated but not exceedingly sharp, and for the fauna and vegetation. Its slopes are separated by the neighbouring smaller massifs by deep valleys, including the Valle Leonina, leading to Leonessa, and the Ravara and Capo Scura valleys leading to that of the Velino River. Lake Bolsena of central Italy, is a lake of volcanic and tectonic origin. Roman historic records indicate activity of the Vulsini volcano occurred as recently as 104 BC; it has been dormant since then. The two islands in the southern part of the lake were formed by underwater eruptions following the collapse that created the depression. The lake is supplied entirely from the aquifer, rainfall and runoff, with one outlet at the southern end. A sewage treatment plant filters most of the raw sewage from the surrounding communities. Constructed in 1996, it features pipelines transporting the sewage from every major community around the lake to the treatment plant on the Marta River; that is, no effluents enter the lake. Il Monte Pennino è una montagna che raggiunge i 1.571 m s.l.m. situata nei comuni di Serravalle di Chienti e di Fiuminata al confine delle regioni Marche ed Umbria, nella Provincia di Perugia e nella Provincia di Macerata. Alle sue pendici nascono i fiumi Topino e Potenza. Un percorso a.r. sullo stesso sentiero con un dislivello di circa 500 metri, fino ad un rifugio dove
potremo degustare un buon caffè.
Chi fa il percorso più breve potrà tornare nel primo pomeriggio alla propria auto, chi sceglie il
percorso più lungo dovrà percorrere altri 2,5 km con un dislivello totale di 700m circa. Monte Pennino is a mountain that reaches 1,571 m s.l.m. It located in the towns of Serravalle di Chienti and Fiuminata on the border of the Marche and Umbria regions, in the Province of Perugia and in the Province of Macerata.
