On 10 June 1944, the village of Oradour-sur-Glane in Haute-Vienne in Nazi-occupied France was destroyed, when 642 of its inhabitants, including women and children, were massacred by a German Waffen-SS company. A new village was built nearby after the war, but French president Charles de Gaulle ordered the original maintained as a permanent memorial and museum.

Futuroscope, or Parc du Futuroscope is a French theme park based upon multimedia, cinematographic futuroscope and audio-visual techniques. It has several 3D cinemas and a few 4D cinemas along with other attractions and shows, some of which are the only examples in the world. It is located in the department of Vienne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, 10 kilometres north of Poitiers, in the communes of Chasseneuil-du-Poitou and Jaunay-Clan. The park had 1.83 million visitors in 2015. The drawings are the combined effort of many generations, and with continued debate, the age of the paintings is estimated at around 17,000 years . Lascaux was inducted into the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list in 1979, as element of the Prehistoric Sites and Decorated Caves of the Vézère Valley.

C'est en 1982, à l'initiative de Charles Ceyrac, alors maire de Collonges-la-Rouge, que naît l'association les plus beaux villages de France qui compte aujourd'hui pas moins de 151 villages. Son but ? Protéger et promouvoir le patrimoine remarquable de ces communes d'exception. Partez à la rencontre de leur histoire, leur terroir, leurs habitants, leur culture... Ils sont 6 dans le Limousin.
