Kayaking The River Trent Stoke On Trent To Stone Ethos 10
On Sunday we decided to take advantage of the extra rain fall and kayak the River Trent starting in Stoke On Trent in Staffordshire. We launched in Stoke at the shallowest part of the river which the source starts at Mow Cop 15 miles away.We then went through Trent Vale leading on to Trentham Gardens Estate. Trentham stretch was a far better kayak paddle. After Trentham we moved on to Stone around 10 mile paddle witch took you through open fields cows and sheep overall it took 4hours with plenty of stops. After Stone the River Trent becomes deep countryside witch we plan on carrying on in part 2 .Stone to Sandon.
Curiosities of Staffordshire- Flash village
Today we are visiting the (disputed) highest village in Britain, Flash on the border between Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Cheshire. Now a welcome break for ramblers visiting The Roaches nearby to enjoy a drink at the highest village pub in Britain (again, other 'highest pubs in Britain' are available!), at one time this little village was a known haven for brigands, counterfeiters and other villainous types. It is due to this that Quarnford, as it was once known, became more widely known as 'Flash'.
What to do when you forget your GPS?! // Heart of England 300km
The Big Bank Holiday is here! I head to the Cotswold to take part in the Heart of England 300km audax ( ). Awesome weather from beginning to end. Bit of a blunder though... I left home without my trusty Wahoo - I've become to rely on this so much - I forgot what it's like without a cycling computer!
So how did I manage? Did I follow the route sheets? Did I navigate by phone? Did I give up altogether?
Find out by watching this video - always if you have any questions about audax, Paris-Brest-Paris please comment below the video!
Thanks for watching!

Currency
Britain’s currency is the pound sterling (£), which is divided into 100 pence (p).
Scotland has its own pound sterling notes. These represent the same value as an English note and can be used elsewhere in Britain. The Scottish £1 note is not accepted outside Scotland.
There are lots of bureaux de change in Britain – often located inside:
• banks
• travel agents
• Post Offices
• airports
• major train stations.
It's worth shopping around to get the best deal and remember to ask how much commission is charged.

Passport And Visas Requirements To Enter The UK
Please note: Following the recent referendum vote for the UK to leave the European Union (EU), there are currently no changes in the way people travel to Britain. The following guidelines still apply:
If you're planning an adventure to the UK, depending on your nationality and your reason for visiting, you may need to organise a visa.
If you're an American, Canadian or Australian tourist, you'll be able to travel visa-free throughout the UK, providing you have a valid passport and your reason for visiting meets the immigration rules (link is external).
Citizens from some South American and Caribbean countries as well as Japan are also able to travel visa-free around the UK.
European Union citizens, non-EU member states of the EEA (Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland), Switzerland, and members of the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCT) do not need a visa to enter the UK.
If you have any further visa questions visit the official UK government website.
