Virginia City, Nevada
The opening shot flies over the steel headframe (built 1913) and shaft of the New York Mine in Gold Hill, Nevada. At 0:43 into the program we arrive in Virginia City, Nevada with a view overlooking the southern portion of the town. Looking northeast, we can see St. Mary in the Mountains Catholic church (built 1876). At 0:50 into the program, we are on approach to Virginia City, this time overflying the Mackay Mansion Museum (right foreground), built in 1859 by George Hearst to house the mining offices of the Gould & Curry mines. At 1:06 into the program, our flight takes us above C Street (Nevada State Route 341) to where the Virginia City Chamber of Commerce keeps their offices in what used to be the bullion car of the Virginia & Truckee Railroad. At 1:14 into the program, we continue our overflight along C Street, passing over the bullion car, and continuing on towards the Storey County District Courthouse, and Piper’s Opera House (background). At 1:36 into the program, our flight over Virginia City provides spectacular views of St. Mary in the Mountains. At 1:47 into the program, we enjoy a flight over the beautifully restored Savage Mansion. Still a mining office today, the Savage Mansion hosted then former president Ulysses S. Grant in 1879. At 1:59 into the program, the penultimate shot drifts towards B Street from the southeast, flying towards the Courthouse. At the center of the picture, we can see A Street midway between Taylor and Union streets, the point of origin of the Great Fire of Tuesday 26 October 1875 which, according to Dan DeQuille's History of the Big Bonanza”, burnt a swath through the city half a mile square.

Reno is a city in the U.S. state of Nevada, located in the western part of the state, approximately 22 miles (35 km) from Lake Tahoe. Known as The Biggest Little City in the World, Reno is famous for its hotels and casinos. It is the county seat of Washoe County, in the northwestern part of the state. The city sits in a high desert at the foot of the Sierra Nevada and its downtown area (along with Sparks and other suburbs) occupies a valley informally known as the Truckee Meadows. It is named after Union Major General Jesse L. Reno, who was killed in action at the Battle of South Mountain on Fox's Gap.
Reno is the third-most populous city in Nevada after Las Vegas and Henderson and the most populous city in the state outside the Las Vegas Valley, with an estimated population of 248,853 in 2017. On this adventure, Brian takes you through one of the most underrated states in the country. Known largely for its legal gambling and prostitution and miles of arid sageland, most visitors to the state never venture beyond the neon streets of Reno and Vegas. However, Brian quickly discovers that there is much more to Nevada then meets the eye.
Brian's journey begins near the California border, in the state's oldest town, Genoa. After visiting the town's main sites, Brian continues to the state capital of Carson City. After stopping by some of the city's most famous buildings, he heads to the Nevada State Museum, to learn more about the state he'll be exploring. Brian concludes his tour of the area with a visit to the historic Bower's Mansion.

Reno is a city in the U.S. state of Nevada, located in the western part of the state, approximately 22 miles from Lake Tahoe. Reno is the third-most populous city in Nevada after Las Vegas and Henderson and the most populous city in the state outside the Las Vegas Valley. Before the late 1950s, Reno was the gambling capital of the United States, but Las Vegas' rapid growth, American Airlines' 2000 buyout of Reno Air, and the growth of Native American gaming in California have reduced its business. Older casinos were torn down (Mapes Hotel, Fitzgerald's Nevada Club, Primadonna, Horseshoe Club, Harold's Club, Palace Club), or smaller casinos like the Comstock, Sundowner, Golden Phoenix, Kings Inn, Money Tree, Virginian, and Riverboat were either closed or were converted into condos.
Because of its location, Reno has traditionally drawn the majority of its California tourists and gamblers from the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento, while Las Vegas has historically served more tourists from Southern California and the Phoenix area.
Several local large hotel casinos have shown significant growth and have moved gaming further away from the downtown core. These larger hotel casinos are the Atlantis, the Peppermill and the Grand Sierra Resort. The Peppermill was chosen as the most outstanding Reno gaming/hotel property by Casino Player and Nevada magazines. In 2005, the Peppermill Reno began a $300 million Tuscan-themed expansion.

Fly Geyser a Natural Phenomenon in Nevada
Fly Geyser is completely a natural phenomenon that Mother Nature gives us strange characteristics. Fly Geyser, also known as Fly Ranch Geyser is a small geothermal geyser located in Washoe County, Nevada approximately 20 miles north of Gerlach. Fly Geyser is a geyser with several channels which is located in the black rock desert of Washoe County, a rural part of northwest of the state of Nevada, USA. The source of the Fly Geyser field's heat is attributed to a very deep pool of hot rock where tectonic rifting and faulting are common. It was unintentionally created by well drilling in 1964 for the study of sources of geothermal energy.

Abundant water at Nevada's Washoe Lake
During the winter of 2017, there was an abundant amount of rain in the Reno / Tahoe area, and many places like Nevada's Washoe Lake contained a lot more water than usual. Since I made my first drone flight ever at the lake, I decided to go again for some comparison video. I also mixed some handheld footage and shot the time-lapse with Sony cameras.
