Nevada (Spanish for blanketed; see elocutions) is a state in the Western, Mountain West, and Southwestern districts of the United States of America. Nevada is the seventh most broad, the 34th most crowded, and the ninth slightest thickly populated of the 50 United States. Almost seventy five percent of Nevada's kin live in Clark County, which contains the Las Vegas–Paradise metropolitan area[6] where three of the state's four biggest fused urban communities are located.[7] Nevada's capital is Carson City. Nevada is authoritatively known as the Silver State as a result of the significance of silver to its history and economy. It is otherwise called the Fight Born State, since it accomplished statehood amid the Civil War (the words Fight Born likewise show up on the state hail); as the Wise brush State, for the local plant of a similar name; and as the Wise hen State.[8] Nevada fringes Oregon toward the northwest, Idaho toward the upper east, California toward the west, Arizona toward the southeast and Utah toward the east. Places to see in ( Las Vegas - USA ) Mount Charleston
Mount Charleston is an unincorporated town and census-designated place in Clark County, Nevada, United States. The population was 357 at the 2010 census. Named for nearby Mount Charleston, the highest point in Clark County, the town is in a valley of the Spring Mountains to the northwest of Las Vegas, noted for its hiking trails, and for the Mount Charleston Lodge, a rustic hotel. At an elevation of approximately 7,500 feet, temperatures are much lower than in Las Vegas, which has an elevation of about 2,000 feet, making it a popular place for Las Vegans to vacation. The mean high temperature is 20.4 degrees (Fahrenheit) cooler than in Las Vegas. The area is also known as a vacation village for wealthy Las Vegas residents.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the census-designated place (CDP) of Mount Charleston (which may not coincide exactly with the town boundaries) has a total area of 29.4 square miles (76 km2), all of it land. Access to the community is from State Route 156 and State Route 157.
Mount Charleston has a borderline Mediterranean/continental Mediterranean climate (Köppen Csb/Dsb), very similar to that of Flagstaff, Arizona though with rather less frequent and abundant monsoonal storms. In contrast to the arid climate of the rest of Nevada, precipitation as rain and melted snow is sufficient to support coniferous forests, with typically 11 inches or 0.28 metres of snow on the ground in February and a maximum monthly snowfall in a limited record of 89 inches or 2.26 metres in December 2010.

day trip to Mt. Charleston, Nevada
Video from a day trip to Mt. Charleston, Nevada. About an hours drive from the LV Strip. A great trip that takes you from the desert to the mountains. On the day we visited the temperature was about 30 degrees cooler up there than it was back in the city. The lodge you'll see in the video is the Mt. Charleston Lodge. You can stop and eat there, they rent small cabins too.
We took the Mt. Charleston Scenic Drive, also called the Spring Mountain Scenic Drive. Hwy 156,157 & 158

RED ROCK CANYON, NEVADA - An easy trip from Las Vegas
Something that completely took us by surprise while visiting Las Vegas is the plethora of opportunities to visit scenic areas just outside of the city. Nestled just a short drive away from Las Vegas strip is the imposing Red Rock Canyon. To visit we partnered with Pink Jeep Tours who whisked us to numerous different vantage points where we had the opportunity to hike, walk and climb certain parts of the National Park. It's definitely an experience I'd recommend to others and it left me feeling nostalgic because the scenery and imposing landscapes are similar to what I experienced backpacking in Northern Argentina five years ago.

Visiting Red Rock Canyon - day trip from Las Vegas Travel Video Script:
On our second day in Las Vegas we decided to escape the city and enjoy a bit of the natural scenery. We joined the Pink Jeep Tour for an afternoon exploring Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Located about a half hour drive outside of the city this is an easy day trip filled with rugged desert landscapes. We spent a few hours driving through the park and also doing a bit of hiking along the way. Here are some of the highlights.
Alright, it's time to climb this bad boy. Okay, show us your climbing skills. Scramble up that mountain. Just like an old man.
So this over here is the Calico Ridge and the landscape reminds me a lot of Northern Argentina.
The toilet. Is the toilet occupied? Hmm. Huh?
Hello, there.
So we are coming to the end of this outing. We're just doing our last little hike through the park and soon we'll be back in Las Vegas. But how did you enjoy it? It's been awesome. It is so nice. I didn't realize that there was so many scenic areas just outside of Las Vegas. And the best part is that I am building up an appetite for an enormous steak. Or sushi? No, steak.
