1. Edersee Waldeck
The Edersee Dam is a hydroelectric dam spanning the Eder river in northern Hesse, Germany. Constructed between 1908 and 1914, it lies near the small town of Waldeck at the northern edge of the Kellerwald. Breached by Allied bombs during World War II, it was rebuilt during the war, and today generates hydroelectric power and regulates water levels for shipping on the Weser river. At low water in late summers of dry years the remnants of three villages and a bridge across the original river bed submerged when the lake was filled in 1914 can be seen. Descendants of those buried there go to visit the graves of their ancestors.

Daheim im Lorsbacher Thal: German Restaurant – Frankfurt, Germany (Frankfurt am Main)

Special thanks to Frankfurt Tourism who arranged a private tour for us so that we can gather great information and content and share with everyone! Having a local tour guide to give us a special tour in Frankfurt is super helpful, especially he was able to bring us to Daheim im Lorsbacher Thal for an authentic German cuisine.

Quite honestly, “Daheim im Lorsbacher Thal” is quite a long name for a restaurant but it was definitely a great meal for us. Our tour guide ordered a bunch of authentic German food for us to try. This restaurant has the outdoor patio but since we went in September, it’s a bit cold, so we sat inside. The inside of the restaurant reminded me like a beer hall, lots of long wooden tables, long benches, more like a communal dining experience.

Germany is famous for beer but also famous for Apple Wine, so we got to try some. We got to meet the owner, Frank, who came to our table and greeted us. And he gave us (the media) special access to his brewing stations of apple wine (located under his restaurant). Passing through the bar area, we walked down a narrow wooden stairs, the basement were filled with big wooden keg of apple wine that was made from different times. There was also a big storage space that we got to see all the wines that Frank found during his travel. I spotted a number of bottles of wine that were made in Canada, in particular, from the province of Quebec. I was very proud.
